A naive question about #Electronics and #ComputerMusic ... I have a little stamp-sized amp to power a very small 5W resonance speaker. The amp has terminal block connections and runs off a 12V supply. So: can I safely use a USB-C pigtail cable off a "high-speed" battery phone charger, or do I need something more specialist? I think 5/12 means around 0.4A current.

This bunch of consonants is an obvious encryption of “from scratch or not” – format and name of an unofficial computer music concert series.

What does from scratch mean?

A couple of examples from wiktionary:

- When the writer finished writing his book, it was stolen and now he has to rewrite it from scratch.

- She said she wanted to build a new house from scratch.

- There were so many errors in the program that the programmer decided to rewrite it from scratch.

- He was out of pancake mix so he had to make the batter from scratch.

So in similar situations, computer musician would start composing and improvising their music from a blank sheet.

Nothing prewritten – really? Well, like the mandelbrots used to quote from Carl Sagen:

If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

Made a SuperCollider extension today to allow livecoding elements in a sequence in a pattern. It also has a gui inspired by how some people use multisliders for sequences in Max. It's quite fun. It's available in my Monolithic package.
