Like people keep saying on here the #tarriffs are just a huge tax on lower class which currently has 90 percent of the tax burden. VS the #rich. #Project2025 elites want to do away with other tax types and do a #consumptionTax which obviously wouldn't affect corporations and would make them more profitable. #Everything is going to go up BECAUSE WE IMPORT EVERYTHING #toiletpaper will be unavailable again. Donald #Trump doesn't care about YOU.

@danwentzel I think so too.

Cuz I'm shure someone like Bezos and Musk can afford the 17,6% premium that everyone else with any income has to pay in return for not loosing coverage even if they debase and unhinge themselves so hard they'll go broke, have to #TouchGrass and fold cardboard boxes for a living.

  • It also pays for paid sick leave, ambulance rides, prescription meds and doctors' appointments.

Not to mention I'd see this as a sort-of "peace offer":

  • #AffordableHealthcare and execs will be offered clemency in the form of being stripped off their assets and sentenced to #CommunityService so they can undo the harm caused with real hands-on actions!

Cuz some humility would really fit them...

Taxes on consumption do less damage than income taxes

"taxes on consumption do less damage than income taxes. A 2022 Congressional Budget Office study reaffirmed that a broad excise tax is a smaller drag on growth than an income tax that raises the same amount of revenue."

@edavies
If you go too far upstream to energy generation, you run into the "socialise the cost" issue— all pay despite some people being more aggressive consumers. Its best to have taxes on luxury and high-impact goods. If that is what #JamesHansen writes about, then we agree.

We in #Australia once had a #luxuryGoodsTax (20%). It was abolished when #GST (10%) was brought in

Does he write for a publication not (#)cheatingHumanity?
