Ridiculous that when you’re pro-mask, some people are quick to say you’re anti-vaxx Most of us in the #COVIDinformed & #AirborneAware community have gotten multiple doses of the COVID vaccine (at least more than 3, but often more than that), the yearly flu shot + all the other recommended vaccines

Not going to reply to ridiculous posts anymore that waste my time Actual #COVIDinformed & #AirborneAware people wear a mask in public spaces because we know that a respirator mask (KN95 or better) is another layer that adds to protection from the most up to date vaccine (for ANY airborne virus)

I have OCD but it's not related to hygiene/ contamination (i have checking OCD as I check locks & light switches)
Therapist suggested I should go to a store & ask about supplements to "strengthen my immune system"
But no amount of supplements can make my immune system normal

In my quest for COVID aware OCD specialist one therapist shared with me they were fired by an immunocompromised client for suggesting they unmask at an airport as "exposure." GOOD!!! I'm so deeply sorry to whoever this client is

Ontario's measles outbreak has become so big that public health officials in New York state have included the province in a travel advisory that urges residents to get vaccinated before visiting.
"Measles is only a car ride away!" reads the April 2nd measles travel advisory for all New Yorkers from the New York State Department of Health.
"Currently, measles outbreaks are happening in parts of the United States and Canada, especially in Ontario, and around the world."

The thing is with covid, it DOES have to be this extreme "all or nothing" approach, because the rest of y'all are doing nothing, while we have to overcompensate and do everything. We have to be perfect and strict about our precautions because it literally means life or death

What #COVIDinformed and #AirborneAware mean to me (they are NOT interchangeable): “COVID informed” is a reminder that the pandemic is *ongoing” It’s also a reminder that COVID has disproportionately affected marginalized groups BIPOC people, people of low or no income, immunocompromised ppl 🧵1/2

#AirborneAware & #COVIDinformed or COVID conscious / cautious / competent are terms we use to describe our community But I don’t see Airborne Aware as a replacement It’s a useful term to complement those that emphasize “COVID”, a reminder of the ongoing pandemic, its effects on marginalized groups

Accompanied my Mom to doctor's appointment this morning. This was mainly for getting another prescription for her recurring gout issue. She got a physical checkup too. Her doctor & his MOA were masked up. None of the other medical clinic staff & no other patients were masked.

Location of masking report: Burnside Medical Clinic - office in lower part of building - there's a different office with same name on main level.

I’ve been here a while, but I’m just now posting an #Introduction. Why? I’ve been a bit shy to, and as an observer by nature, I wanted to understand what this space can offer and what I can offer in return.

I have many causes that I care deeply about, such as women’s issues and intersectional feminism, human rights, and information about covid/public health, and media literacy. Books and Eastern Europe are also high on my list.

While I believe in staying aware, I rarely post about straight politics.

I’ve already connected with some thoughtful, insightful, caring, curious people – would love to meet more.

I mask in all indoor public spaces. This is to protect me, to protect others, & to avoid contributing to *HUGE* NHS waiting lists. I got an autoimmune disease from the flu at 21, but Covid is particularly good at leaving lasting health issues and continues to ruin health on a massive scale.
