Good article by @PeterLambForCrawley in The Guardian today. I'm glad, as one of his constituents in Crawley, which he represents as our MP, that he is not in favour of the PIP bill.
However, he could and should have gone further in how to address the financial aspects. The biggest clue lies in the two articles two pages earlier in the same paper on the recent victory by Zohran Mandani in the primary for Mayor of New York, one by Bernie Sanders: the rich must pay more tax.
The newest housing estate (well, one of three) in Crawley (albeit technically not part of Crawley) is quite nice, with paths all around and through the estate.
Lovely day for a morning pre-work ride around Tilgate Forest and environs south of Crawley. Some wildlife encountered!

Took my (new to me) single speed bike for a 15 km loop around town. Fun! I love the freedom of not worrying about gear changes.
In getting the bike prepped (pumping tyres, adjusting seat height and angle), I found that the rear tyre was too big for the frame. I hadn't noticed this when I acquired the bike as the tyres were flat. So one of the stops along the ride was at Balfe's to pick up a more appropriate tyre! (doubled the value of the bike 😆)
The hills in town are more noticeable on this bike, I must admit 😜, but not terrible. Good exercise!

Got stuck at a red light in an intersection in the centre of #Crawley today. It seems that the light only goes green when the "system" thinks there's somebody waiting and that somebody has to obviously be in a motor vehicle, despite there being an advanced stop line for cyclists. Watched the lights go through two full cycles until a driver pulled up behind me. *Then* the light changed. Hey hum. And people complain about cyclists running red lights.
Really quite impressive thicket of Great Horsetail (Equisetum telmateia) in this railway siding at Three Bridges. Fairly easy to ID even at a distance because it’s biiiig (1 metre tall or more) and has very pale, almost white jointed stems.
