There are two lessons here:

(1) Always wear your seatbelt when traveling by air, even when the seatbelt sign is off.

(2) When in crisis communication mode - don't deflect or corporate-speak. Just handle the matter with clarity and compassion, put customers first, and communicate early and often. It says a lot about the state of corporate #PR that this example is lauded as a rarity.
