I pushed the #crux ports changes for #lxqt 2.3.0, just released today. It can be found in my recently relocated to codeberg crux repos here: codeberg.org/jlngn/lxqt

Looking at our CrUX trend, and not sure if we are improving our website or if people are buying new iPhones...

Been playing in #crux for a few days with their Plasma 6 setup, which is very minimal, I even had to make some ports for packages I expected to be there. The more I play with Plasma, the more I like it on a desktop machine. But then when I boot a fresh a #slackware install into a xfce4 desktop and I actually see perfection again, I’m reminded how simple is good.

Looks like my personal website has been ejected from #CrUX because it has not enough page views anymore… so be it.

So I’ve been waiting to hear back from the #crux devs if users are allowed to use their gitea instance to host repos. In the meantime, I created a quickshell repo there for #niri & dank & friends. But I setup a #codeberg acct, where I’ve started up some other things (not yet real repos) but I’ll probably migrate all the things there eventually. But that’s going to take time, a whole lot of precious time… it’s gonna take patience & time. Mmmm but I’ll do it, I’ll do it, I’ll do it, do it right!

The piece in the latest #Crux newsletter, on automation as a signal of seriousness, is an excellent explainer for why #robodebt was built, and the more recent unemployment benefit breach scheme, and so many other supposed cost-reducing, fraud-preventing systems. I expect the age assurance system will also fall into this category.

I started ports for #quickshell and such for #crux as I really think it’d be a nice mid-ground for people new to WMs who don’t want to go for a full desktop install. So I’ve been messing about with that today. I should be migrating my port repos, but I keep failing the Anubis checks. (my mind is convinced I’m not real now). 🫠

I did unveil my arm64 package builds for #crux ARM 3.8 release yesterday. Using a source based distro on arm machines can be a bit of a downer, these packages are meant to ease the pain a bit. Aiming to be used with 'pkg-get' if setup, you can pull in up to date pre-built packages for your install. If you want to build a system fast and go with ports later... this is for you! The repo will include 'contrib' at a later time, but a full base package set is avail as of now! rekt.lngn.net/crux-arm/arm64/

I got a few emails 20 minutes ago that new #xfce releases are happening now. Just informing that #crux gets the updates almost that quick as well. I’m so fast you can call me The Flash. āš”ļø github.com/mac-a-r0ni/crux-xfc

It’s taken me long enough, but now #crux-arm users can enjoy waiting for ports to build on the #rpi5 on the recent 3.8 release. All verified working even with the latest 6.12.40 kernel! github.com/crux-arm/crux-ports checkout the 3.8 branch and get building!

When you find that usb wifi dongle and think ā€œfuck ya, I can fix my rpi5 installation now!ā€ - working out what went wrong with the #crux #rpi5 wifi setup. I swear it worked last time I tested things. 🫠

Bless the Oamaru Mail, describing 5G as "controversial technology". It's only controversial if you're a cooker.

The story is written by Andrew Ashton who apparently edits the regional organ. He was writing for Crux last year and there was one story in particular which, for me, damaged Crux's reputation.
