Tonight was my Cub Pack’s final weekly Meeting of Term.
Our Cubs played UniHoc (basically a variation of indoor hockey) one on one then two on two, then Elephant Ball (a circle game with a large foam ball), before ending with badge presentations and the gifting of cards and items made by the Cub Pack in Gloucestershire we made Christmas Cards for a few weeks back.

Apparently one of the big new things in music are a band called Arkayla.
As some of you will know many people pronounce Akela, the traditional name for Cub Scout Leaders (named after the leader of the Wolf Pack in The Jungle Book), this way.
Being a Leader myself obviously hearing the name mentioned on the radio this afternoon led to my ears pricking up, curious to the context of it being used.

Last night was Parliament Week at Cubs.
We talked about Leaders, what is expected from Sixers...it mostly amounted to me rambling on. 😆
Then we held a series of votes about what activities and badges they wanted to do.
It was a Pack Forum in disguise. Aptly it fits with the concept of explaining democracy, and we were due to get input from our Young People again anyway, so it was stars aligning.
Tomorrow night is Money Skills night at Cubs.
We’ll give the boys some different coloured tokens (representing a value) and they have to use it to “buy” materials to build something.
A ways to learn the value of money, when they work out what they need.
Always fun doing this. And the boys get quite creative too.
👬 The buddy system is a key part of Scouting safety. 🌟 Scouts always stay with at least one buddy—never alone. They help each other, stay aware, and tell an adult if something goes wrong. 🏕️ This rule also applies to leaders, protecting both Scouts and adults. The buddy system builds trust, teamwork, and responsibility.
🤝 A Scout is courteous. 🌟 Courtesy means using good manners and showing respect to everyone—friends, family, teachers, and even strangers. 💙 Small acts like saying “please” or holding the door show care and kindness. When Scouts are polite, they help make the world more trusting and peaceful.

We had a great walk in the woods tonight.
Despite the low temperature, 18 Cubs along with some parents all came along to walk a circuit of the woods.
I used an app to show the boys different parts of the night sky; the various planets and constellations.
It was a really great evening. Dry. Clear sky.

Last night our #Cubs made Christmas Cards to send to another Cub Pack. Our Beavers did likewise earlier in the week.
The Cubs made theirs from a Kit, to be completed by sewing using the enclosed thread.
I was envisaging the Cubs doing 2 cards each but they were more time consuming then I anticipated and none of them technically finished them in the time available.
They did their best though, and I can’t ask more than that.
