I was sorry to read today that ILY:1 have disbanded, as I enjoyed their cute concept songs.
This stage is charming; I am particularly taken with the mauve beret.
Kpopfans from South Korea probably find us multistans as strange as Europeans or South Americans might find somebody who claims to support lots of football teams.

I've been enjoying this city pop inflected cute concept song. Even though I don't love all of the outfits, I still prefer this Studio Choom to the MV.
Like many others, I was struck by the "Thank you Jesus" line. I wonder why that was included.

Kpop is a niche taste in the west, but I suspect I occupy a niche within that niche, because I think not that many westerners love cute concept girl groups.
This song, so reminiscent of early GFriend, has really grown on me. I liked this Inkigayo stage because the outfits do not necessarily read as school uniforms, that styling choice being the one aspect of cute concepts that I am not crazy about.
The composer, Jinyoung, also wrote one of my favourite Oh My Girl songs, “Step By Step”, sometimes known as “One Step Two Step”, which I will append as a reply to this post.

"Cute concept" kpop is never going to find a big audience in the west, but I hope those discerning few who do appreciate its pleasures will agree that this song is a delightful offering from an underrated group.

In this stage of “Twinkle Twinkle” the stylist has co-ordinated various fabrics, accessories, and garments to produce that most pleasing of group looks, unity without uniformity.
My guess is that these outfits cost a good deal more than those used in the “My Color” stage.

This Sunday's choice is ILY:1 performing “My Color” on The Show this last Monday. The GFriend influence is unmistakable, and that is a kpop sound I adore.* The choreography delighted me too. In fact, the only aspect I don’t love is the choice of outfits. To discuss school uniforms in kpop styling would be, to coin a phrase, beyond the scope of this toot, so I will just append a reply to this post where one can see some cute alternatives to school uniform outfits that ILY:1 wore for their previous comeback, “Twinkle Twinkle”.
*Am I right in thinking nothing in western pop sounds like this at the moment?
