Flying the Spitfire in #DCS with my friend who’s trailing the BF109 piqued my interest in the bird.
Takeoffs are a bit finicky but once it’s in the air it flies quite nicely. Balanced with a good rate of climb and decent speed at level flight. Can’t turn fight a Spirfire but it gives the P-51 a run for its money.

Never thought I’d ever buy a prop plane module for #DCS but here we are. The new #F4U #Corsair, which has been in development for the better part of a decade, is finally here for us to enjoy.
Took off from a carrier and flew around Guam 1944 in the mission editor. The plane flies nice and is surprisingly stable when fully laden. It has a stronger roll moment compared to the TF-51 due to that giant propeller so some rudder trim is definitely in order. Speaking of, the rudder is a bit twitchy so I added a curve to help smooth it out. Haven’t figured out how to fine the cannons or rockets yet but releasing those two giant rockets is wild. They rock the whole aircraft coming off the rail and make a satisfying explosion.
Worth the price? For me it is but that’s for you to determine really. I only got into DCS last year so my time waiting for it was relatively short. Definitely interested to see one of these up against some Zeroes or a MiG-15.

First flight of Operation Thunderbird, the 4th mission of the campaign made for my sim community. I’ve been working on this for the past few months with @NeneExists and it’s going to be a grand crescendo.
Is the bell finally tolling for the integrated air defenses at Mt. Olympus? So far they’ve been a constant thorn in the side of the pilots, and while we cut off their supply lines it does not promise to be easy ^^
Arranging a virtual fly-in event for my community tomorrow, first one of its kind ^_^
Put together some pre-made flight plans to help people dropping in, though hoping people will make up their own flight plans as well. This is the easy variant of the two I made, simple route but it can still be easy to go amiss so will be fun to see what kind of adventures people will have :)

Last night was another community flight night in DCS, doing some further testing on the third mission “Op Full Crop” of the bird themed campaign I’m developing with @NeneExists . This one is all about supply lines, both cutting the opposing ones as well as defending your own.
The mission is based around an adversary scoring system I’ve written, where each side gets points for a variety of tasks they can complete and are racing to fill up to 100% with enough tasks competed. You can also block the other team from scoring points, and once the game state can no longer progress the teams are automatically graded.
