I visited my garden yesterday and several wood stakes that I'd pounded into the ground were horizontal and in some cases several feet from their original positions. And two trellises were bent over 10° or so. I initially thought "vandalism" but it turns out the winds from yesterday's storm were clocked at 95-105 mph. My neighbor had a dryer fire and my house was uninhabitable for an hour 💩

I am a special snowflake so I have AQI monitors, air filters running etc on a regular day and boy howdy those things do carry on even when the actual smoke alarms don’t kick up (working as designed)

Friday evening has started early because the 5 minutes between knowing there *was* a fire and actually *locating* the fire was way stressful

I am getting to know my neighbors because I’m in my front yard with a cute puppy every day. Last week one of them was offloading a 20 pound turkey (frozen fortunately). In vain did I protest that it was just me and the dog. (It’s bigger than the dog actually.)

This is my job through New Year’s.
Now in the oven, and I was lucky to have a roasting pan that it only overhangs a little.

Everyone gets turkey tetrazzini casseroles. Turkey salad. Turkey egg rolls. Turkey until Easter. #delco

We were out front before sunrise, and it was totally quiet until a car door closed somewhere up the street. Seamus began barking hopefully, and chased back and forth along the fence as two young men walked up the street with packages, having the look of guys who had just driven awhile. ‘Merry Christmas!’ they told us. ‘Good morning, Merry Christmas’ and Seamus watched them until the door up the street opened to welcome them in. And it does feel like Christmas now. #delco
