HP DL380 G5 – First Look
Hey, Krafting’s here! Today, we’ll take a tour of a somewhat old HP G5 server. This is an HP DL380 G5 is a 2U server from around 2005.
The only other thing I would like to get hold of, is another PCI-e riser card allowing for another 3 PCI-e lanes to be used for more activities 🤣

Sounds like a cool product name… #Installed ✅
A power boost to support the additional drives, memory and CPU Power. Up from a single 400W PSU to dual #750W PSU’s. Should be plenty and add redundancy.
RAM Cache upgraded to 512MB and still supports battery backup🔋 in the event of a power loss with a 650mAh
RAM sifted through, and I’ve got an exact number of matching DIMM’s just different brands so I’ve grouped them by channel.
3 DIMM’s per Channel, 3 Channels per CPU. Now populated with 18: 4GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R totalling: 72GB of RAM. The CPU’s can handle up to 146GB each I believe.
Using the lul between Christmas and new years to turn some unused parts in to something useful.
