#dms est un shell de bureau wayland, ni plus ni moins. Les gestionnaires de fenêtres en tiling (mais pas que), comme #NIri, #Sway ou encore #Scroll sont fournis nus, traditionnellement c’est à chacun d’assembler et configurer le nécessaire pour y ajouter barre d’état, dock, fond d’écran, mode nuit, etc. Et c’est là que dms intervient, en fournissant un tout cohérent clef en main, configurable graphiquement.
Estoy a punto de reinstalar mi computadora personal (un poco porque ya no tengo mucho espacio y probé tantas cosas que limpiar este disco es difícil sin romper todo y otro poco porque en su momento no cifré el disco y prefiero hacerlo) así que estoy viendo cuál es la mejor forma para no perder documentos. Ya había empezado a usar Pika como herramienta de backup (front end de borgbackup) y ahora configuré una segunda copia en una Raspberry que hace las veces de servidor hogareño. Bastante fácil de recuperar después los archivos.
La idea, por ahora, será instalar alguna distribución basada en #arch y usar #niri y #dms para un escritorio liviano y de movimiento horizontal que es lo que me viene gustando más para el día a día.
(Pour rappel, Niri est un gestionnaire de fenêtre nu, il faut le compléter avec des éléments de shell, ou un shell complet comme #dms.)
Pour gérer graphiquement les layouts des fenêtres, des trucs comme ça ? Oui, en passant, mais…
Bon, ok, j’avoue tout, c’est pour que dms change automatiquement les couleurs de bordures des fenêtres de Niri.
dms sait choisir et appliquer une couleur d’accentuation en fonction du fond d’écran, mais comme Niri ne suivait pas, ça faisait moche.

I have been running Niri as a daily driver (work and private) for more than a year now. If you are into tiling window managers, you might want to give this one a try.

#quickshell Umgebung #dankmaterialshell ist hier sehr dankbar. Nimmt einem viel "Gegurke" ab, da #dms sehr viele Funktionen bietet. Bei #waybar benötigt man zusätzliche Software/configs.

I think I am ready to test #Niri seriously through daily use. I had to rephrase one of my prerequisites: I didn't manage to configure ibus, but I managed to configure fcitx5 to write in Japanese.
Special mention for #DankMaterialShell without which I probably wouldn't have embarked on the adventure.
