I took the bust to Costco and got a ride back with our friend T, who has a Costco membership.
Walking through Chinatown, I saw a white guy in sock feet, no shirt. Sunny, but 8°C (46°F). He's got his stuff laid on a long wood bench that's green from algae. A slice of white bread laid on the bench. The guy's carefully sprinkling crystals on the bread, making an open-faced sandwich. The crystal shards are bigger than kosher salt. #DTES #addiction

Join for a participatory #theatre #workshop inspired by the work of #DowntownEastside #documentarian and organiser Sid Chow Tan! From organizing with the #Chinese #HeadTax and #ExclusionRedress movement to documenting countless actions against #gentrification and #displacement - Sid’s #art of #activism captured a spirit of class-consciousness, humour, and #solidarity. His vast archive depicts four decades of the struggles, victories, celebrations, and everyday lives of #DTES and #Chinatown communities and organisers. In these introductory workshops, participants will be introduced to theatre techniques that will connect themes from the Sid Tan archives to our lives and neighbourhood issues today.
Please note, these workshops are 3 hours long.
Free admission and no theatre experience necessary! Pre-registration required. Refreshments will be served. #Cantonese and #Mandarin interpretation will be provided. #Photographer and #filmmaker Tallulah leads a unique #PhotoWalk and workshop, inviting participants to see the #DTES through new eyes.
The session begins with a 30–40-minute introduction to photography, composition, and history, followed by a one-and-a-half-hour walk using #BlackAndWhite #disposable #film cameras.
Participants will document their surroundings through #analogue photography, guided by Tallulah’s expertise and encouragement. Cameras will be collected at the end of the walk. Photos will be shared online later. No prior #photography experience is required.

Chaia performed a small, fairly last minute show on Sunday at Lobe Studio in the #DTES at the end of her west coast tour. I met her briefly before and knew about her work, but never saw her perform before. I feel like it's something you have to see live. Very cool, using sampling, singing and various devices to extend a Samuel Malavsky prayer into an almost hour long epic piece that works its way through various modes and sonic interactions.🤯

Separated from our place in Gastown by a few hundred meters because everywhere East of the Sea Bus remains dedicated to industrial use / which left #DTES residents to fight for Crab Park 🦀 and it being Bob Mosesed–off from the rest of the Sea Wall all these years
If they socially cleanse the city of #Vancouver of the thousands of people living outside because there is no affordable housing, maybe this area will get added to the Seawall too
