I continue to absolutely disagree with the actions taken by Schools wrt Banning Cellphones.
They're going to have those for the rest of their lives. In their pockets, ready to use.
I understand that it's frustrating dealing with cellphone mis-use in the classroom. But removing it as an option isn't a good solution. All you're doing is setting them up for failure. You're setting them up for entering the workforce, and having no idea how to effectively use a cellphone.
Sounds wild right? They should be using it in their own time and should thus know that right? I disagree.
Sure, they'll use phones on their own time, but they'll never be taught how to use it productively. They'll never be taught how to balance using a phone for tasks that someone wants them to do.
Instead of banning phones, schools should be embracing them, building their curriculum to integrate them, offering phones to the students that don't have one.
It's as short sighted as banning calculators in math class.
"You won't always have a calculator in your pocket."
