When I was a kid, my dad used to say that for him, EVERY day was Father's Day. Single-digit me thought that was a silly thing to say because I was too young to recognize commercial marketing at work.

As a lucky dad to two amazing boys, I now understand what he meant. They are everything, and today - every day, really - is about them.

As it should be.

Miss you and your wisdom, Dad. You were the best.

My kids don't generally like carbonated beverages, but recently the 9yo has developed a taste for Jarritos Lime Soda. We let him have some on occasion (less than once a month, and never a full bottle because it's basically candy).

He refers to it as "Hairy Toes." 🤣

nobody warned me that becoming a dad would cause my reaction to unnecessarily loud tailpipes on cars and motorcycles to change from mild irritation to a fiery white hot rage burning with the intensity of a thousand suns. #bedtime #dadthoughts

Why is banana pudding better when it comes from a BBQ joint?

This is clearly incorrect.

Everyone knows there's only one serving per container.

Top and side view of the "Nutrition Facts" label of a red box of Tagalong Girl Scout Cookies. The label indicates "about 7 servings per container," which is, of course, ridiculous when the contents are clearly meant to be consumed all at once in a single sitting.

Right?

RIGHT?!?

It's Pulaski Day and I have a question for K-12 in : do you incorporate any lessons about Casimir Pulaski into your curriculum? Any acknowledgement whatsoever about why there's a random Monday off from school every March? Does he get a mention? Inquiring minds want to know!

Unpopular opinion (at least, unpopular with the 9yo): the Sonic the Hedgehog movies are glorified Saturday morning cartoons with big budgets, special effects, and a big name actor or two. Their two hour run time is completely unjustified.

Is potato chips on PB&J a thing? I feel like I heard somewhere that was a thing. Anyway, I tried it today and... okay? I guess? It was good, but not life changing. Maybe I did it wrong, but I don't think so. It's not rocket science, after all.

I guess I could take it or leave it.

The 9yo does not possess what most would call discerning taste when it comes to food. He is, after all, only 9. 😉

Since about the age of 3, he has always enjoyed "The Daddy Cheese Melt." A product of desperation: take two joined Hawaiian rolls, slice them in half, spread some mayo, add two slices of American cheese, and then bake open face in the toaster oven for 2-3 minutes (just long enough to melt the cheese without making the bread too toasty).

The "Daddy Cheese Melt," as described.

Who decided that gift cards should be treated the same as lottery scratch-off tickets to reveal the PIN, and has that individual been fired from their job yet?

Gift card PIN partially revealed because the scratch-off material is poor quality and can't be entirely removed.

For the 8yo's final park district league soccer practice, we had a kids vs. parents scrimmage and OMG they're like a little swarm of piranhas. 🤣⚽

The 8yo went to a Halloween party this weekend dressed as the Grim Reaper (he left his scythe in the car).

Until someone convinces me otherwise, I'm calling him Evil Jawa.
