Création unique. Grande sculpture d'un cerisier en papier blanc. L'arbre est recouvert de part et d'autres de mots et de phrases imprimées en noir. Au pied de l'arbre, on voit un pont fait en carton, qui passe eu dessus d'un point d'eau, et qui est à moitié recouvert de fleurs de cerisier roses. Quelques fleurs sont encore accrochées dans l'arbre. La sculpture repose sur une bûche de bois coupée assez fine, qui fait office de socle.

Un cadre en bois clair avec une sculpture en papier blanc à l'intérieur, recouverte de mots et de phrases imprimées en noir. Le fond du cadre est rose pâle avec des petits cœurs roses. Pour la sculpture : sous un arbre en 3D, il y a deux personnages en 2D, une mère qui tend les bras vers son enfant. On peut lire les mots "bonne fête" et "maman" sur l'arbre et sur les personnages. Il y a quelques touches de peinture : sur les cheveux des personnages (marron) et sur les chaussures de la maman (rouge).

Un arbre en papier blanc dans une petite boîte qui peut se refermer (comme une grande boîte d'allumette). L'arbre est recouvert de texte en français et japonais, imprimé en noir (on y aperçoit notamment le mot "cerisier"). On y voit également quelques fleurs de cerisiers roses au niveau des feuilles. Une femme vue de côté se tient sous l'arbre en tailleur, face à ce dernier. Le fond et le dessus de la boîte est rose clair, avec des motifs de fleurs de cerisiers roses et de feuilles vertes.

There are new plantings in the raised circular bed at the entrance to the Great Lawn and curving pergola covered walk at the local botanical gardens. In late winter/early spring there were a couple of conifer trees planted there. They often artistically create displays using repurposed branches or cuttings.

Sedan min dotter föddes, har jag funderat på att sy ett flaggspel att ha vid kalas, det kryllar av dem på nätet, och en tanke som slagit mig många gånger är att göra det som en minnessak med tygbitar från barnens kläder.

Nu när dottern skulle till att fylla 18 år gjorde jag äntligen slag i saken, och sydde ett flaggspel, men av vanliga bomullstyger som jag hade liggande.
Jag klippte till en mall och vek tyget dubbelt för att få ut så många vimplar som möjligt i samma storlek. Genom att ha basen på vimpeln mot den vikta sidan fick jag liksidiga romber som var enkla att sy fast i ett svep. Som lina använde jag makramégarn som jag hade hemma, och eftersom mitt vimpelspel inte ska vara utomhus så bemödade jag mig inte med att stärka vimplarna med Vlieseline eller annat foder utan klippte bara till bitarna med en sick-sack-sax.

Så enkelt att göra så jag undrar varför i hela friden jag inte gjort det tidigare. Men en sak är säker, den förhöjer feststämningen i rummet, både den här gången och på flera fester framöver.

For almost exactly 18 years, I’ve had the idea of sewing a pennant garland to hang up for birthdays and celebrations. They’re everywhere online, and I always thought it would be lovely to make one as a keepsake using fabric from the kids’ old clothes.

And now, as my daughter turned 18, I finally made it happen. Not with memory fabrics this time, but with some cotton quilt fabric I had on hand.

I made a simple template, folded the fabric double, and cut out as many pennants as I could. By placing the base of the triangle on the fold, I ended up with neat, symmetrical diamonds that were easy to stitch in one go.

For the string, I used macramé cord I already had at home. Since it’s meant to be used indoors, I didn’t bother with interfacing - I just trimmed the edges with a zigzag scissor to keep them from fraying.

Simple, satisfying, and finally done—just in time for her big day.
