nobody/nogroup

Prepare for confusion…

Standard “nobody” user/group in CRUX:

$ cat /etc/passwd | grep ^nonobody:x:99:99:nobody:/:$ cat /etc/group | grep ^nonobody::99:

Normally (I believe), the group “nogroup” is the corresponding group for the user “nobody”.

Having the group called “nobody” might affect functionality.For instance, slock expects “nogroup” to be the group name. “nogroup” is also the default group name in Devuan, and its ID (65534) also corresponds to the BSD norms. CRUX’s appears to align with Red Hat’s preferred UID/GID (99).

In this example, “nobody” (the user) is also not a member of the “nobody” group. I’m not sure if it should be, or not. I guess not, otherwise you’re giving “nobody” something of an identity by assigning it (them?!) to a group. Again, comparing Devuan, nogroup does not have any members, so this seems normal.

Just the name question, then. I’ll probably put this to the mailing list…

We are currently upstreaming the @devuan created #Xorg #X11 seatd patch https://github.com/X11Libre/xserver/issues/202 . Once done, that'll bring #XLibre one step forward in #Devuan adoption and add another option to the rootless X scenario.

as per your OP in this thread, I've been using #Remmina for years. X2Go, RDP, WhatEv really floats yer boat ⛵ , it's there.

Uh, oh, I feel a tangent coming on... Okay not to hijack your thread, but maybe you can offer a bit of your perspective on flatpak vs appimage alternatives, since I don't prefer either, and usually will go out of my way to create a native package for WhatEv distro I'm using if it doesn't exist, or just compile from source rawdawg if need be like I did with #Zed (which only impresses me because of Git integration and Vim bindings; and it's Rust) - Jury's still out on that one though.

Anyway, I just broke down and installed a flatpak for the #LaGrange browser because I got a bit lazy and didn't wanna make the .deb for myself.

Okay, back to your situation...

Remmina HERE is pretty comprehensive with the native package managers with ready to go .deb's for #Forky & Sid, #SlackBuild for #Slackware, #FreeBSD & #OpenBSD ports, #Devuan, #Gentoo, #Guix, and #Kali just to name some.

It's pretty straight-forward and a single package to accommodate a plethora of methodologies so you can use it as your Varsity first string go-to in a pinch most of the time.

Even better, is the fact that they don't have an ewb00ntew maintainer, lolz... Coz frinds don't let frinds run ewb00tew :p

So I was messing about with #virtmanger trying to get #9front running last night.

For some reason it fought me every step of the way. I still do not grok why the network setup does not work ...

did someone had problems with #Docker on #Linux 6.12.57+deb13? Mine fails to start after trying to
`/sys/fs/cgroup/ mount -n -t cgroup -o cpuset cgroup cpuset`

with

dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.

(same for `memory` subset).

@venelles The only problem I had with audio was to make it to switch from the computer speakers to the headphones when I connect the headphones but if I'm not mistaken I have pulseaudio as a dependency of something.

My first attempt was to replicate my #Devuan #xfce4 desktop functionality on #FreeBSD and I can say I was successful but I want to change things now, like switching to #enlightenment and remove all the Linuxisms I can from my FreeBSD. Thanks for sharing this.
