KDE team has removed FreeBSD support due to systemd/logind. So, the question is can i use KDE without systemd even though it is linux? I mean there are #devuan #artix #guix and the others.

Gerade nachgeschaut, ob alle wichtigen Daten auf den USB-Sticks gesichert sind und gegebenenfalls aktualisiert. Ich habe beschlossen, auch den PC komplett neu zu installieren und nicht das alte /home zu erhalten. So kann ich #Devuan #Linux ohne Altlasten von Grund auf neu einrichten. Wird dadurch etwas länger brauchen, weil ich mich zudem mit anderen Programmen anzufreunden habe, da gewohntes nicht, oder nur umständlich beschaffbar, vorhanden ist. Aber Ausmisten ist immer gut 😊
Hat jemand #Devuan #Linux am Start?
Die Installation unterscheidet sich von anderen Distros. Beim Test auf dem Notebook bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob es ein vorhandenes /home bei der Installation unangetastet einbindet? Der entscheidene Moment passiert wohl mit ja/nein-Abfragen im parallel geöffneten Terminalfenster, oder?
So, the last two posts have been weighing on my mind for a few days now. Now they're out there, and UmWerker is stepping back until further notice. What's happening in the world, especially what that idiot Trump is doing, has become unbearable for me. Moreover, I am simply meaningless and ineffective. It's not about me at all, but about everything. My holistic thinking can't help itself, but even that remains misunderstood. And now the hype about supposed #AI. People just don't want to understand what they're doing. Their #greed prevents them from seeing reason. Ironically, what supposedly distinguishes our species, human #values, is nowhere to be found. Even historically speaking. We could be different, but we don't want to be. That's the sad thing about us.
Finally, my #Linux problem: it will probably come down to #Devuan.
So, die letzten beiden Postings lagen mir schon einige Tage auf der Seele. Jetzt sind sie raus und der UmWerker zieht sich bis auf weiteres zurück. Was in der Welt passiert, besonders was der Schwachkopf Trump anrichtet, ist für mich unerträglich geworden. Zudem bin ich schlicht und einfach bedeutungs- und wirkungslos. Es geht mir dabei gar nicht um mich, sondern um alles. Mein holistisches Denken kann nicht anders, aber selbst das bleibt unverstanden. Und nun der Hype um angebliche #KI. Menschen wollen einfach nicht kapieren, was sie anrichten. Ihre #Gier verbietet ihnen jede Räson. Ausgerechnet das, was unsere Spezie vermeintlich auszeichnet, menschliche #Werte, sucht man vergebens. Auch geschichtlich gesehen. Wir könnten anders, wollen aber nicht. Das ist das traurige an uns.
Abschließend noch mein #Linux Problem angesprochen: es läuft wohl auf #Devuan hinaus.

On Jan 6, the #VendefoulWolf #Linux maintainers released a new ISO with #IceWM and #XLibre by default. According to them, it boots very fast and uses only ~200 MB RAM. You can read more about this #Devuan based distribution at vendefoul-wolf-linux.sourceforge.io. #XingsDay

First Look at Devuan GNU+Linux 6 “Excalibur” on Raspberry Pi 5
I 'took a week off' or whatever of using FreeBSD as my primary workstation (back to Debian). Not sure why... laziness or to stop dealing with the fine paper cuts for a bit or something I guess.
On the weekend some systemd news and activities pissed me off again so back on FreeBSD for more seat time this week.
Spent a bit of time messing with Devuan as well. Looked at issues around docker/podman without systemd and after about 45 mins of research gave my head a shake and asked myself "wtf bother with this when 'BSD has a standardised jails system"? Linux jails are a thing of course but meh.
Anyway, enjoying FreeBSD w/ Plasma (Wayland). Snappy! Even on the old cobbled test workstation I've built for it.
Not sure what the future holds for Plasma on BSD now that the KDE team has decided that FreeBSD isn't important enough to support with their new session manager. Perhaps a session solution will be found or BSD Plasma users will be looking for alternative DT's.
Mi sistema virtual #Devuan empezó a fallar, crasheaba a la mitad de mis grabaciones de prácticas de seguridad en Linux.
Me dije: "Oh, no sabía que Devuan era tan inestable, estaba casi recién instalado".
Luego me acordé que estuve tocando el /etc/security/limits.conf para otra clase, y que la inestabilidad estaba en la "Capa 8" 😅
