Forge – a Refracta based, which is based on Devuan, live Linux distribution with nodbus, experimental release. https://archiveos.org/forge/ #linux #debian #devuan
I might someday understand you, Wayland zealots, but till then you'll go thru this backlog & fix everything from there (plus screensavers) and get it working also on BSDs, else STFU, stop shoving this ridicule & redhat idea to ordinary ppl and get your incompatible crap buried.

P.S. also, systemd crowd (from same redhat club) seems really is culturally incompatible with Unix.
After trying various #Ubuntu #linux flavors on my old laptop with only 4Gb of RAM, I needed to find something lighter that didn't use up more than half my RAM, but I still wanted disk encryption and working hardware keys and trackpad. I tried #Devuan (I pronounce this Dev-one) and it is awesome! Super #lightweight and looks great. I only needed to add a tap-to-click config and install xfce4-screensaver, otherwise happy with the defaults.

@BrodieOnLinux #XLibre has the same boomer vibes as #Devuan 🤣
I'm sympathetic to the #Devuan / #InitFreedom people, but it wouldn't be my first choice of thing to work on, especially since I frankly dislike systemd less than what it's replaced. However, #Guix is pushing forward #GNU #Shepherd, which actually seems to have merit beyond "not systemd"--have the #Devuan people heard of this? Anyone working on integrating it yet?
I have been a linux user for more than 20 years, and a Debian user for a good 15 years now. For the first time, I feel like something is off. systemd feels like a Frankenstein that does not belong. It makes the system feel brittle and vulnerable.
Perhaps some more reading is in order. But I am also starting to look into things like Devuan.
Thoughts? Interesting takes and links?

@kansu @Duckbill4994 You guys got me thinking I should upgrade my Debian to #Devuan.
New blog post: Freeing a VPS from systemd with Devuan
What to do when you can't install a #systemdfree distribution on your VPS because it doesn't support custom ISOs? Well, I recently migrated a Debian VPS to #Devuan, a distribution based on #Debian that lets you choose your init system. In this article, I will talk about the migration process, and I will give my first impressions about Devuan after using it for a few days.
