My final hiking statistics for 2025:

- 125 hikes
- total distance: 2620.8km (1628.5 miles)
- total time 578 hours, including 52.3 hours of rest

- average distance per hike: 21km (13 miles)
- median hiking distance: 21.2km (13.2 miles)
- shortest hike: 10.3km (6.4 miles)
- longest hike: 31.3km (19.4 miles)

- average walking speed 4.88km/h (3.03mph)
- average speed including the breaks 4.46km/h (2.77mph)
- slowest hike: 3.92km/h (2.44mph) over 17km (10.6miles), due to some segments with deep snow
- fastest hike: 5.59km/h (3.47mph) over 25.7km (16 miles)

For the ascent/descent (which are the same since all my tours were laps with same start and end point), the only data I have is from google earth, but that is counting every bump on the trail and is prone to noise, so these are overshooting by a significant amount:
- total ascent +65946m (216358ft)
- average per hike: 527.5m (1730.6ft)
I also tracked the highest and lowest elevation per track, giving me a range per track, and accumulating that gives my a a lower bound of the actual ascent I did:
- total accumulated elevation range: 23756m (77939.6)
- average per hike: 190m (623.4ft)
The true ascent I did lies between both, my estimate is that it is around 40000m (131234ft)

The distance histogram is particularly interesting. I always tried to get at least 20km whenever possible, and it seems like it had the effect that the 18 to 20km bin is empty, because I always added some slight detour to get to the full 20km when I otherwise would have ended in that range...

@phranck There are at least a couple of alternatives that you can use right away for your project, although it totally depends on your requirements. Here are a few libraries that can be easily integrated in React

- Chart.js
- Recharts
- d3.js
- ECharts
- Highcharts

Best of luck with your further development. Cheers! 🙌

All I want is a program that can deterministically turn human readable plain text into diagrams... I guess I'm sticking with plantUML and graphviz...

Artist Eugène Viollet-le-Duc (1814 – 1879) was known for his reconstructions of mediæval French ruins; Coucy, shown here, however, was not a ruin until German Soldiers left it towards the end of WOrld War I, and demolished most of it, 15 years after this drawing was made.

The perspective on the top of the tower makes me slightly uneasy 🙂

Floor plan to follow in a few days.

An architectural diagram today - how to draw a gothic window. Or how to design one.

The left side shows the fully-drawn window and the right some of the construction. Not all, though, by any means, so you need some creativity here!

I bought the book at a shop near San Jose years ago - i started walking to it down El Camino Boulevard & gave up, took a taxi!

This black and white diagram of a gothic window is divided into two halves: the left, in white on black, shows the overall effect; the right, in black on white, shows also the construction lines so you can learn how to draw gothic windows for your cathedrals or churches or houses.
