I think I realized why #Apple's #dictation feature sucks now. It's not LISTENING to what I say as much as trying to PREDICT what I want to say. It makes too many assumptions about what it "hears." The fact that it pulls up names from my address book when they sound a lot like words I use – Wurth versus worth – is disturbing. (1/3)

I've been staring at the BYOK website for a while now. I love the idea of having nothing more than a tiny, portable LCD and my favourite keyboard for #writing. There is just one practical problem for me: I hardly type my first drafts anymore. #Dictation has really replaced most of my daily typing.

I guess in a few years I will have lost my ability to type fast. :D

Well kids my fix for #Dictation is a failure. It's broken again. Why, I do not know. But, frankly all of this breakage doesn't engender my good will towards the #Apple brand.

Any #linux buffs had any joy getting Nuance Dragon Professional (PC) working?
I know I can’t do anything about penguining Vellum (Mac only) but the Dragon dictation software is bloody good and both of us use it.
I have an EU software solution for all my other writing needs in Papyrus 12, and got it working on #linuxmint using a flatpack #playonlinux4.
I can keep a Winblows system running for dictation if I have to, but with the USA behaving strangely, I want to have as little reliance on Microsft as possible. They could feasibly just shut all the systems down, couldn’t they?
Not panic, just trying to be prepared. Arthritic fingers work more slowly than dictation.

I’m investigating the possibility of moving across to #LibreOffice from #MicrosoftOffice because they’re trying to charge me more to unwillingly endure the intrusive #Copilot #AI features

but I need access to voice #dictation because I use it as a #transcription tool, and also I use speech to text a lot on my iPhone because I find typing very laborious and inaccurate

So on the LibreOffice forums, I was investigating whether you can do that in Writer (its version of Word), and I discovered a link to Apple‘s list of what you say aloud in dictation to make the text format exactly as you like
