Does anyone know of a resource that showcases the state of the art in federated private auditable payment processing architecture à la #GnuTaler or #DigitalEuro?
Especially w.r.t. offline p2p payments between users of such a system.
I'm asking because I just devised a scheme for secure and private offline payments in such a context where the payer is liable when they double-spend.
I want to know whether that idea is novel and should be published.

The EDPB has published a study on offline token-based #digitalEuro possibilities: https://www.edpb.europa.eu/our-work-tools/our-documents/support-pool-experts-projects/digital-euro-and-its-token-based-offline_en One interesting conclusion is that proximity is really hard to enforce as a condition for wallet-to-wallet payments. Which means I can also pay you from my wallet without intermediaries when we are only in the same Zoom meeting. 🙂
There is a nice intro and current state of affairs on the #DigitalEuro by #RTE this weekend. Among other things, this means the #Irish government is eyeing an approval by the #EuropeanCouncil by the second half of 2026.
