Undercover A & E: #NHSinCrisis
No, it's costing more & more b/c more people are getting sick (Covid, Long Covid, no treatments for ME, long waiting lists for ops, poor mental health services. etc.) & we're not doing anything to cure them. We're complaining the house is flooded while running the bath taps at full pelt #dispatches
The benefits system is regarded as "broken" entirely b/c it's seen as costing too much, & that's not b/c it's too generous to the individual or too easy to claim, because quite the opposite (enjoy a 40 page form to fill in? a "medical" that's more like a high pressure job interview?") #dispatches
Fraser Nelson's always been a right-wing scumbag. Mates with Cameron. Ironically the Cameron/Osborne government replaced DLA with PIP, because apparently DLA was "broken" (i.e. too generous in their eyes). Now PIP's apparently broken, too. #dispatches
Your daily reminder to sign the petition asking Parliament to look into the rental income earned by the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall (i.e. Chuck and Wills). Because they're not taxed on the funds they're taking from taxpayer-funded orgs. And that ain't right.
Anyways, please sign.
As the US, Western imperial nations along with their west Asian collaborators create a mass global misinformation propaganda campaign to discredit the Axis of Resistance in #Lebanon and now #Syria , continue to stand with those fighting against empire and genocide. ☝🏽
“Show us your true face. Show us your colonizer face. Show the world your war criminal face, because now everybody knows what our problem with you is” (Ghadi Francis).
Your daily reminder to sign the petition asking Parliament to look into the rental income earned by the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall (i.e. Chuck and Wills). I dunno, maybe tax them?
Anyways, please sign.
I got the official rejection of my petition tonight because there’s multiple submissions on the same topic and they can only accept one.
Honestly, I’m a bit annoyed that they chose one that doesn’t have a clear objective. My ask was straightforward: tax them or cap the rents they can charge. The one that’s live says ‘review the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall’. I mean, yes. Do that … but with a view to what?
Anyways, please sign.
The "secret millions" of the Monarchy revealed by #Dispatches is shocking but not surprising. There is a long history of Royal exceptionalism.
We wrote about the overreach of the Public Order Act used during the coronation here:

Thank you to all those of you who supported this petition. Hopefully, this version will be approved and we can actually get it moving.
I made a petition calling on the Duchies of Lancister and Cornwall (i.e. Charles and William) to stop charging so much rent to public services and non-profits. But the petition has stalled, presumably because Parliament can't tell them how much rent to charge.
So now I've made a new petition: Charge tax on rental income earned by the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall
It needs 5 sponsors to sign it before it goes live. Will you sign?

I’ve made a petition. But it needs 5 signatures before it goes live. Will you sign it?
My petition:
Rent cap on properties owned by the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall
Removing the link for now as it’s had its five supporters and it’s gone into review phase. Once it’s live, I’ll reshare.
I’m putting together a petition. They don’t usually achieve much. But I feel like I have to do something.
They bought and then sold warehouse, nearly doubling their 30-odd million pound investment.
They own way more land than you probably think. Homes, schools, hospitals, shopping centres, beaches, the shoreline.
This is absolutely disgusting.
The UK government is cracking down on private rental homes that don’t comply with minimum standards.
You’re not going to believe this, but the royals are some of the worst offenders.
Shocking.
They’re literally slumlords!
While the royals bang on about the environment, they’re:
A. Charging rents to wind farms;
B. Causing environmental damage for the sale of a few quid; and
C. Profiting of the mining industry.
Now, @xtaldave has just said that when the royals say they ‘support’ these charities, they likely don’t mean financial support. They give their time in encouraging other people to give money to charity … which the royals then claim back in rent.
Is that better or worse than money laundering? I’m not sure.
‘Oh, but the royals support charities.’
Guess what. The very same charities the royals support … ARE PAYING THE ROYALS MILLIONS OF POUNDS IN RENT.
That’s basically the definition of money laundering.
Schools, NHS, fire brigades … all sorts of organisations are paying thousands and even millions of pounds a year in rent. And the Duchy of Lancaster is exempt from tax.
An author, whose name I missed, suggested that the royals wouldn’t even need to sell those lands. They could just charge a peppercorn rent.
