A .CA domain helps Canadian creators, entrepreneurs, and businesses stand out. It boosts search rankings in Canada and builds trust with local customers. And right now, it’s on sale!

I'm specifically looking for a Canadian host that has something like Dreamhost's "Shared Unlimited" plan.

The Canadian hosts I've found still seem to think that storage is expensive and email addresses are rare resources to be doled out one at a time.

I don't even have crazy needs; my website is entirely static, low traffic, and not huge (under 30MB total), and we've got probably 5GB-ish of email spread over 3 accounts. 🤷

Just joined the CIRA @cira, which is free for anyone who has a .ca domain.

I was hoping they'd have a list of Canadian web/email hosting providers, but couldn't find one.

They do good work, and I'm glad they're here!

Dear fellow Canadian Mastodon-ers...

My preferred Dot CA domain name is currently being cyber-squatted.

Because the content is Canada specific, as will be a number of its would-be sub-domains,

I want the Dot CA.

Yet since I can't have it as I don't want to reward the cyber-squatter

Please help me by suggesting alternate Top Level Domains that to most Canadians would still be kind of a Canadian TLD.

Thank you! Eh!

CIRA is our country's Internet registration authority and manages the .ca domains as well as other technical bits and pieces for Canadians.

Unfortunately, the website is beyond painful to use, and finding information on it is made more difficult by bad links and inconsistency.

cira.ca/

Their 404 page suggests "If you still can't find what you're looking for, please stay a while and look around".

Unfortunately, given the above, that's just not good advice.
