So…fun fact - I’ve been down there on that pointy bit of land. If you go to my profile and scroll down a bit, past the pics of my Zakynthos trip, past Paris, past my Europe trip with pics of Monaco, Furka Pass, etc, and finally you’ll see two photos from the start of my Europe motorcycle trip - one of a lighthouse, and one of a shark coming out the roof of a building.

That lighthouse pic was taken all the way down there at the point.

Unterstützt wurde sie dabei von britischen Booten: Dem #RNLI #Lifeboat 13-07 aus #Dungeness u. der BF #RANGER.

Gemeinsam konnten sie 61 Pers. lebend aus dem Wasser bergen.

Auch ein britisches Flugzeug u. ein franz. #Dauphin Rettungshubschrauber beteiligten sich an der Suche. Der Dauphin entdeckte eine leblose Person im Wasser, die von dem RNLI Team geborgen wurde. Diese wurde später an Bord der #AbeilleNormandie für tot erklärt.

Heute vor 25 Jahren: Am 19. November 1999 entdeckte man im #Kernkraftwerk #Dungeness-B (UK) bei der #Reparatur eines Kesselrohrs im Reaktor 21 einen ungeklärten #Riss. Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass auch Reaktor 22 Risse aufweist, da dafür keine Kontrollprogramme existierten.
