As a parent who was told their child may have ‘high functioning aspergers’ on their final day of preschool…to finally getting a clinical face to face diagnosis for #autism in Yr 5, I can say categorically #Farage has no comprehension of how longwinded the system is in the UK in terms of diagnosing #neurodivergent conditions.

And that’s just 1st stage…then you have to fight for #EHCP.

If your child has health/social care needs and you've been through the #EHCP process, did you have any contact with your area's Designated Medical Officer / Designated Clinical Officer? This is the most sensible suggestion I've heard yet. At a stroke it removes the bitter conflict between LEAs and parents by ending the conflict of interest, levels the playing field for parents who cannot afford private reports, and eliminates the funding crisis for councils by centralising funding. I am sure there would be other problems (e.g. what happens when central budget runs out) but it ends the most contentious ones.
