I successfully added more #RAM to my #epaper driver module by replacing the #ESP32-WROOM-32 module it came with with an ESP32-WROVER-32, only to find out #ESPHome has a bug which prevents me from fetching the image to draw on the e-paper display 😭
Software issues aside it's been a lot more challenging than I anticipated:
• I thought the longer module would stick out on the antenna side but no, it sticks out the wrong side
• Desoldering the original module has taken me a lot longer than it usually does and I don't know why. Probably lacking skills on my side. The module got damaged...
• ...which is quite convenient since I was able to use its little PCB as a shim to raise the new module above the other SMD components
• Of course I forgot to check if any pins on the short side were used. And of course they were.
• I was still able to fix my mistake with some bridges on the bottom side of the board to rewire them to other GPIOs
Now I'm too tired to debug ESPHome, I'm gonna do something else 😅
