Die East Side Gallery zieht sich mitten durch Berlin. Dort, wo früher Menschen erschossen wurden, bestaunen heute Millionen Besucher die Kunst auf Beton. Nach 35 Jahren hat die Galerie ihren einst spontanen Charakter verloren. Von A. Bonhage.

Durch die Richtung des Sonnenlichts wirft der Arm einen auffälligen Schatten auf die Mauer. Ebenso ist die Hand des nach oben ausgestreckten Arms im Schatten. An dem unteren von 2 Beschlägen auf der Mauer ist ein vermutlich verloren gegangenes Schlüsselbund aufgehängt. Die Frau streckt die Hand aber offensichtlich nicht zum Schlüssel. Ein blau-weißer Bus ist durch die Öffnung in der Mauer zu sehen. Ein Teil einer Windrose auf dem Bus ist erkennbar – inklusive des Buchstaben W für Westen. Ein Teil der alten Berliner Mauer auf der sich ein farbenfrohes, zum Teil abblätterndes Bild befindet. Durch einen Riss in der Mauer scheint die tiefstehende Sonne direkt ins Objektiv der Kamera.

Die Reste der Berliner Mauer an der sogenannten „East Side Gallery“ Berlin in der Mühlenstraße zwischen dem Berliner Ostbahnhof und der Oberbaumbrücke entlang der Spree im Jahre 1997. Zu sehen ist die Rückseite in Richtung der Spree. Die Mauer ist in ihrer Gesamtheit an dieser Stelle bunt angesprayt.

@normis this is what the #wall actually looked like in #berlin. it was a massive structure, of which what has been preserved as the east side gallery was only a small part. outside berlin, the whole complex was even wider.

Und schon waren wir in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. In der Nähe des Checkpoint Charlies gab es weitere Mauerreste. Das Engelbecken hat ganz schöne Blümchen, Bäume und auch mindestens eine #pausenbank. In der Nähe gab es einen richtig doll markierten Fahrradstreifen. #EastsideGallery. Sehr zur Freude meiner Menschy radelten wir auch wieder über die schicke Oberbaumbrücke, bevor uns dann Kreuzberg vollends verschluckte. Entlang des Landwehrkanals radelten wir in südöstlicher Richtung.
