Doomster Predictions are missing one Important Consideration IMO. Relationships Failure at Home.
Surely there must be more to those eco/climate doomster predictive stories?
Then it occurred to me that personal relationships will die too!
We humans already have a huge library of songs, poems, other art, and in most people, broken love & trust relationship experiences behind us. But what of when all the poly-crises are not only at our gates, but breaking into our homes as well?
Its about how all of us and our relationships both within and outside our homes, businesses, hobbies and other activities are directly & indirectly affected by the world we live in (and upon) becoming upsetting & unfamiliar, as its backdrop pictures become a kaleidescope of worrying changes.
I haven't seen any books or articles on this encroaching & deeply personal hit we all face. Changes to life patterns both at home, work and elsewhere in our 'normal' places, will probably become the most terrible of traumatic experiences. Arriving progressively & inexorably, especially for those with care of others to whom they turn for answers & responses.
Its going to feel like a war constantly arriving, but erratically & like the current Russian army in Ukraine it keeps on coming, we have no ammo to stop it with, and it takes no casualties!
Maybe because it universally affects us all it could soften the personalisation of being hurt, but I'm expecting that the novelty effect that covid-19 had on us during lockdowns, when many rediscovered neighbours and nature outside their homes will wither over time as effects become severe.
Can we make it into that better and continue forward? Notice I didn't use the word 'through' because that wrongly implies that like a storm cloud to an aeroplane it cannot get through it to become a past experience.
This is by far the worst thing I can foresee, how we 'civilised' mostly peaceful & generally trusting humans 'live with' such threats when unlike in the 1930's there isn't likely to be a safer number of receptive nations we could emigrate away to.
And after the savagery of Brexit and other right wing nationalist sentiments we know that many receiving nations will bristle at our presence there over time.
What (if anything) can be done to get that terrible picture into the hearts of elected representatives, supreme wealth & think tanks that only obsess about power?
That when we all are being severely affected by consequences, they will hold still in their 'towers' observing impassively, but knowing that one day they won't have us around to add diversity to their monotone OCD little existences!
Were they instead to unlock their wealth power and open it to being used to make living where we are more tolerable it would be the greatest act of behaviour transformation in human history! (I expect, please prove me wrong).
But how (if at all possible), could this appear?
