I love that Edgar Cayce referred to each person as "the entity," getting across the idea that these bodies, and the sets of preferences and likes and dislikes we accumulate in our lives, are not our core selves.

The concept was difficult for me when I was first exposed to it (not sure if the first exposure was through Cayce or the Vedic/Buddhist traditions), because I clung to my identity as a this or a that... generally related to the subcultures I took part in. Now, though, I find it very freeing!

I'm fascinated by the different angles from which people around the world approach the same spiritual truths. Edgar Cayce's approach was particularly unusual in that it recommended techniques more usually associated with eastern traditions like Yoga and Hinduism to reach more-or-less Gnostic Christian ends. More unusual still is that Cayce, while not in trance, was a very devout, Bible-centric Christian living in a time (early 20th century) and place (Kentucky and Virginia, USA) where such ideas were generally not circulating.
