The Goumi (Eleagnus multiflora) is fruiting this year. It is a must have in a permaculture garden: it enriches the soil with its nitrogen-fixing abilities, its resilient, it looks great, bees love the small flowers and the berry’s are edible.

Silverberry (ölweide - eleagnus) harvest - two of the three different edible sorts carried this year despite starting the year as baby plants. Next year should be better with ‘established’ plants.

Their berry taste is quite different (a bit sour but good so), and have a massive seed, which you can eat, but I wouldn’t want to process into a jam. So, experimenting with a juice/syrup thing.

Boom 3 geoogst. Beetje te laat, want door de warmte hangen veel pruimen halfgaar aangetast aan de boom.
De helft is onbruikbaar, maar goed. Genoeg te wecken, sappen, cideren, en tot jam te verwerken over.

Allemachtig wat een hoop werk verzet weer. Ik had (veel) meer tuinafval dan ik kwijt kan in m'n 3 vaks- compostsysteem.
De compost die klaar is er uit (hij is heel mooi!!); deels in de tuin verspreid en de rest in een big bag geschept. Daarna de beluchtingsbuizen schoongemaakt en weer begonnen met vullen. Voornamelijk grassen, vliersnoeisel, braam, lisdodde en distels. Afgewisseld met lagen houtsnippers.
Alles water gegeven. 🥇🥇🥇

My baby red #lettuce #plants in a large pot with one #cucumber plant. These aren't my Yugoslavian red lettuces - those have ruffled leaves. The seeds I sowed are from a local Saanich small farm. I forget the variety.
