That’s all for the Nuova Elettronica number 104-105 from October-November 1985. If you want to have a look, the scan of the whole magazine is available here: archive.org/details/Nuova_Elet #NuovaElettronica #ElectronicsDIY

The final section of the magazine was often dedicated to projects sent by readers. They usually only provided the schematic and a brief description of the circuit. It was usually a favourite of mine as it was very diverse and interesting. #ElectronicsDIY #NuovaElettronica

After a forgettable article about magnetotherapy, the next project is a 4A DC power supply, with a switchable voltage output from 5V to 15V. Based on a nice toroidal transformer, it’s a conventional linear design. It was meant to use car radios at home, as most of them were removable so they weren’t left in the car, as they were stolen very frequently. I like the style of the box! #ElectronicsDIY #NuovaElettronica

Then, the “pièce de résistance”, i.e. the Delta computer, that was a nice Apple 2e clone. The guy in the top picture by the way recalls me my electronics professor when I was at the university. @hkz rebuilt it from scratch by redrawing all the schematics in KiCad as well as all the motherboard with minor modifications. He could run my text adventure games on it and I am in awe. #retrocomputing #Apple2 #NuovaElettronica #ElectronicsDIY

The next two projects are a guitar preamplifier that boosts the 3kHz to 6kHz frequency band and a junction tester equipped with a beeper. The latter may be useful, indeed, as the sound is different when the junction is good or in short circuit and you just have to keep your eyes on the circuit you are testing. Of course, there’s no sound for an open circuit. #NuovaElettronica #ElectronicsDIY

Then, we find two other blinking lights projects. The first one is an interesting two-transistor design that used an uncommon circuit. The second one is again a strange Christmas light project based upon a SN76477, that is in reality an audio synthesiser IC they must have had in stock. #NuovaElettronica #ElectronicsDiy

The second project of the #NuovaElettronica 104-105 from 1985 was a simple test oscillator for CB radio at 27 MHz that could be modulated by an audio tone. They used a 74LS266 quadruple XNOR in this project and in another one a few pages after. Probably they had a large stock of them to sell in the kits? #electronicsDiy #electronics

BTW, if you want to test the release candidate of #FidoCadJ, do it now! We are planning to release the stable version as soon as we get enough feedback and we are confident that enough bugs have been ironed out. We would like to have a feedback also about the release process, too. #opensource #ElectronicsDIY #Electronics

Update! Now, the SONAR detects an object in a maximum distance of 1 meter and plots it on an OLED screen with range circunferences. When there isn't any object, no point is plotted.
Next step: Install a servomotor to make it directional.
I love it!! :D

Firsts steps in the Arduino sonar! A friend of mine sent me some days ago the link of one of those prebuilt, but it's funnier to do it by myself!!
Getting used to the SC-SRO4 ultrasonic sensor by measuring the distance of an object and classifying it in 3 categories.
Next step: show the distance on an LCD screen.

A lot of devices I make unfortunately never see the light of day. This is a story of one such device.

FilterVerb is a combination of a resonant low-pass filter and a reverb. The low-pass is based on the legendary Korg MS-20 filter, the reverb is built around an Accutronics Belton brick.

Question for the more industrial electronics/electrical peoples here:

I've got a little build on the stocks which requires quite a few wire-to-pcb connections.

The BOM uses TE MTA-156, but those really require a special (absurdly expensive) tool to attach the wires to the female connector.

I'll sodder the wires direct to the PCBs if I have to, but I wondered what other neat, pluggy, inexpensive solutions there might be?

More trickle in electronics. I have been trying to make a more specialized space for electronics work in my workshop, and it is slowly coming together.

Is there such a thing as trickle down electronics... It seems parts trickles in kind of randomly once you start ordering stuff online 😂 Now is probably a good time to figure out to put stuff together in a meaningful way. Oh and btw this was one of 4 packages I'm expecting, over the coming weeks. Do I really need this many of each? Most likely as I have a tendency to break stuff while learning 🤣

I just did my first electronics repair. Fixed up an old multimeter we had lying around.

It was a simple repair, sure, but there's so much satisfaction in seeing the thing come back to life.

The only thing on my mind right now is that I should've gotten into this stuff
way earlier. This is so much fun. :blobfoxlaughsweat:

The 2AWG wire lugs had to be filed down so they would fit on the terminals of the cutoff switch. The terminals on the switch are separated by a plastic barrier, but they're still very close together. Makes me wonder if I didn't actually need 2AWG wire at all. But here we are. 🤷 #electronicsdiy #crimping

I teased it last night but I am absolutely thrilled to properly announce the release of PETI Firmware Version 0.4.0, the Sleep and Growth Update!

PETI has been a multi-year project of mine to build a virtual pet that has a retro feel while running on relatively modern hardware, and this update finally adds two very important features to the game: sleeping and evolution! This thing is finally starting to feel like a real toy.

(I also take the time to elaborate on my project roadmap and hint at some possible hardware changes).
