Has Trek done an adult female hooking up with an adult-looking 2-year old boy yet? I feel like weirdness parity with this #Neelix #Kes relationship has not been achieved in the 55 years of this franchise as yet.
That said, I can't speak for children of certain omnipotent beings.
Yeah, Captain Janeway won't have to worry about raising any resulting children on Voyager. π
Unfortunately, I don't think Captain Janeway will end up going to Commander Chakotay for mating behavior when it becomes relevant. π
We get so much more light on Kes and the Ocampa, with Jennifer Lien doing an excellent job emoting the pains that Kes is going through.
On the other hand, it was *not* Counselor Troi's best episode and it was quite grating.

Elogium (VOY) >>>>>>>>>> The Loss (TNG)
Captain Janeway: "Starfleet has always been reluctant to regulate people's personal lives."
Sigh... π

Elogium Director Winrich Kolbe: "I wanted to go even further with [Kes], but the studio wouldn't let me. The show went soft at the end. That happens quite frequently in television. You wind up with some wonderful concept, but somewhere along the line, the guts fail and everything is pulled back." (The Official Star Trek: Voyager Magazine issue 15 via Memory Alpha)
Let's run some basic logic here... The Ocampa race is destined for extinction if each couple can only produce one child. Doubly so given their swift 9 year life span and their time intensive mating process that only occurs once in their lifetime.
This is why I give the writers such a hard time when it comes to their weird Ocampa biology stories.
#Projections was produced after #LearningCurve (the final aired episode of Season 1) and before #Elogium during Season 1 production. Season 1 production then concluded with #Twisted followed by #The37s. Due to UPN scheduling changes, the four episodes produced after Learning Curve were bumped to air during Season 2 and The 37s moved from Season 1 closer to Season 2 opener. #Initiations is technically the first episode produced for Season 2.
A #Twisted History: The episode Twisted was originally supposed to be the penultimate episode of Season One. It was one of four episodes made during Season One that was moved to Season Two. Those episodes were (in production order): Projections (2x03), Elogium (2x04), Twisted (2x06), The 37s (2x01). Twisted was the last of the held back episodes to air because the production team was not particularly proud of it.

Early Voyager had some cringe writing.
I wonder if Janeway consulted Chakotay before making babies with Tom Paris? π

Janeway: "Good work Commander. In the future if I have any questions about mating behavior, I'll know where to go."π
That was a terrible joke.π

Neelix's jealousy meltdown was just painful to watch.
And it sounds like Chakotay just needs to get laid.
The Ocampan population must be extremely small if you only reproduce once in your life and you have a narrow opportunity to do it.
