I have been running the Arch Linux-based EndeavourOS on my desktop workstation since the summer of 2022. I use Calibre to manage my ebook library. I had previously installed Calibre from the main Arch packages repository. While it always worked as expected, I would often (if not usually, or almost always) see a nag upon opening Calibre that a new version was available. Seldom was a new version available in the Arch repos. I finally decided to check the Calibre project website to see if there is an “official” installation method. Indeed there is on Calibre’s Download for Linux page:
Please do not use your distribution provided calibre package, as those are often buggy/outdated. Instead use the Binary install described below.
Calibre provides several helpful commands for installing the official binary release (instead of re-printing them, I will encourage anyone who is interested in trying the official binary to visit the Calibre website for the most up-to-date instructions). By default, Calibre is installed into /opt, but the documentation includes a command for installing it in a different directory. Calibre also installs calibre-uninstall which can be run to uninstall the program from the command line. I was able to uninstall the Arch package version and install the official binary without losing any data (by default, Calibre’s database and library is stored at ~/Calibre).

Sometimes I think about installing vanilla Arch Linux but then I think why, what's the point when EndeavourOS is so close to it already and basically just adds a bit of spice?
One big reason I use EndeavourOS is I can get excited about new kernel improvements that will be available to me soon after the update is out while not having to deal with major OS upgrades every so often.

For switching from laptop to phone, of course, pause anything playing on your #Linux machine *and* switch to any available #Bluetooth codec (like from #SBC to #AAC and vice versa). Then play the media on your phone.

Sollte ich, warum auch immer meine Distro wechseln würde ich auf #CachyOS wechseln. Basiert auch auf Arch. Wurde von einem Deutschen ins Leben gerufen und macht direkt Sachen anders.
Warum nicht direkt ArchLinux? Kann man machen, habe aber keine Lust mehr auf das gefrickel und die Community empfand ich sehr unfreundlich, brauchte ich Hilfe.

("Wayland is the future" whether we like it or not. I've been testing Wayland on GNOME 48 in the past few days, it seems mostly ok so far, the only issue is that sometimes some right click context menus are flickering (although this isn't as common either as it used to be 1-2 years earlier), and the workspace switching animation is a bit delayed on my external screen compared to the laptop screen, but at the same time, floating panels in Kdenlive are better handled on Wayland than on X11 (especially when using the Forge extension for auto tiling), and some programs open a bit faster (which used to be in the other way earlier).)
