Viral ‘shoe-in’: Step-by-step sustainable journey of VIVAIA’s growth in PH

fed.brid.gy/r/https://www.rapp

MANILA, Philippines – Facebook ads, reel algorithms, online celebrity sightings, and influencer-driven campaigns — VIVAIA is a name many women recognize purely from social media.

It’s a genius marketing strategy that plays on the “out of sight, out of mind” belief — since it is all over one’s timeline, name recall subconsciously starts to grow. And yet, instead of feeling annoyed, people grew curious. Word-of-mouth customers swear by its comfort, flexibility, and inclusivity in terms of foot size and shape, and others begin to think: Is it really as good as people say it is?

For years, many Filipinos relied on worldwide shipping or pasabuy orders just to get their hands — and feet — on a pair. That’s why shoppers were ecstatic when VIVAIA finally opened a pop-up store at Power Plant Mall in Rockwell in January 2025. Lines formed, with many nervously anticipating that this would be the last they’d see of the brand in the country — the pop-up was only for three months.

It’s been a while since I shared something new. Not because I haven’t wanted to go out… but because the world outside feels unfamiliar lately. December in the Netherlands, normally a time of frost, quiet forests, and the promise of winter, has instead been hovering around 13°C — for weeks. No snow. No frozen ponds. Just rain and warm winds.

And it shows. Trees dropping their leaves later every year. Flowers blooming earlier. Birds already practicing mating calls they shouldn’t be singing in mid-winter. This isn’t “just the weather.” This is a system signalling distress. And after 35 years of fighting climate change — 25 of them actively through Greenpeace, Fossil Free NL, and the Partij voor de Dieren — it weighs on me. I’m angry. I’m tired. And yes, I’m in a depressive episode.

But even in that darkness, light sometimes breaks through.

About two weeks ago in the Kampina, the sun managed to pierce through the dense trees for a brief moment, sending pale golden rays across the forest path. A rare, fragile moment of beauty in a warming world. I captured it handheld with my Canon 5DsR and the Sigma Art set at 44 mm — f/2.8, 1/500s — in the soft, misty morning light around 09:00.

We often talk about the future, but real change begins with the actions we take in the present. The environment young people inherit depends on the decisions made today by communities, leaders, and each of us individually. What is one environmental change you believe could have the biggest long-term impact?

It’s an acronym you hear all the time in the news.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said no flood control project will proceed without an ECC. Monterrazas de Cebu violated conditions in its ECC, the environment department found. In Padre Faura early November, climate advocates called out the lack of transparency on environmental documents — including the ECC — of certain projects.

What’s an ECC anyway and why is it important? Who gets one and how?

The process in a glance: The ECC is short for “environmental compliance certificate.” A project proponent gets one after conducting an environmental impact assessment (EIA).

This process is known as the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) System, established under Presidential Decree 1586 in 1978.

What’s the system for? The EIS system sought to reconcile the potential environmental degradation that comes with infrastructure and industry development.

The World’s Longest Underwater Cave Is Even Longer Than We Realized

EyeEm Mobile GmbH/Getty Images The longest known underwater cave in the world is even longer than we thought. The name Ox Bel Ha is derived from the Mayan language and translates to "Three Paths of Water".......Continue reading.... By Carly Cassella Source: ScienceAlert . Critics: Underwater caves […]
