During the COVID crisis, politicians had to balance the physical health with the psychological health of citizens.

This simulation emulates that challenge.

Can you find a good balance?

"With several members receiving termination letters and its webpage archived, public health experts believe the days are numbered for CDC's Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC).

HICPAC develops guidance for preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections."

I was just told by a senior biostatistician; "oh, cowboy up!" when I mentioned that I'd never had to run a mixed effects model before.
Ouch.
Also; accurate.

Really happy to be in York once again for the annual in-person meeting of our grant to develop a better approach to long-term modelling of intervention effects on adolescent mental health and wellbeing:
gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=MR%2

You can delve into an earlier version of the model in this paper:
microsimulation.pub/articles/0

Collage of four pictures, top a yellowish stylised panorama depiction of some of York's sights (minster, tower, Uni York Central Hall) on a grey background; in the middle two smaller pictures showing a sticker of the head of an alien, mainly green and purple, as well as a shot up Low Petergate with old building facades and the towers of the minster; and at the bottom again a panorama showing Lendal Bridge from downstream, with some tourist Ouse ships moored.

How COVID antivaxxers fuelled a worrying backlash to a life-saving science
By Hayley Gleeson

Vaccine Nation is a warning about the acceleration of the anti-vaccination movement during the pandemic and worrying declines in vaccination rates around the world. Can we correct course before it's too late?

Measles by itself is not highly lethal, but the danger it poses is serious for three reasons.

First, it is the most contagious disease known to humankind. The Spanish Flu had an infection rate of 1.5-2. Measles has an infection rate of 12-18.

Second, Measles can hide in the body for years, cross the blood-brain barrier, and cause death long after you forgot about it.

Third, the extreme danger of measles is what it does to your immune system. Throughout your life, as your body contracts and fights off diseases, it keeps a record of how to fight those diseases. Measles comes in and burns 20-70% of those records, so that the next time you catch a sniffle it might turn into a life-threatening lung infection. —summation of the linked podcast by u/animorphsgeek #Measles #MeaslesOutbreak #Epidemiology #PublicHealth #HHS #RFKjr #epidemic #Childhood

You’ve Been Lied to About Rats and the Black Death

Recent research suggests that rats may not have played a critical role in the spread of plague. What can that tell us about outbreak narratives and their importance?

The Plague at PG:
gutenberg.org/ebooks/search/?q

The State Health Department rat gang were a valuable asset in the fight against the Plague in Queensland from 1900 to 1909.

The image captures a group of around a dozen men standing in a line, each dressed in period attire—suits, vests, and wide-brimmed hats—while holding leashes of alert and active terriers, a breed commonly used for their prowess in rat hunting.

The dogs and their handlers were vital assets in the fight against plague-carrying rats in urban centers like Brisbane.

Menghadiri seminar hasil an.
