One #Catch22 of American life is most reputable #FinancialAdvice involves investing in the stock market and a huge amount of problems boil down to "the corporation acts evil because the stock needs to keep going up."
I try to wiggle out of this by being choosy about where I invest. #ForbrightBank claims to be dedicated to "sustainable investments and clean energy", and while I can't verify all their projects, I can verify they gave me 5% return on a 1-year CD.

I’m looking for something that goes to systemic impacts, probably analogous to responsible investment screening tools. The idea would be to surface and enable rich discussions about systemic impacts of partnering with, for example, fossil fuel or defence industry orgs in academic research projects.
Disclosure: this is me trying to align my personal and professional lives, and to have a structured way to work through decisions about research partners, projects, and funding sources in a similar way as happens for my superannuation investments.

#Investing in these times is a bit of a minefield - both economically and morally.
It's a balance between applying value fundamentals and avoiding exploitative/opportunistic capitalism. I see it as putting money behind the industries that add value to our rebuilding/ restructuring, while ignoring 'opportunities' to benefit from those screwing over the victims and 'cornered' parts of society.
