#EventTech mystery? This pile of nerdy stuff does work, yet it is unclear why.

Setup:

SQ-5 mixer → AR2412 Stagebox DSnake Port
AR2412 Expander port → AR48
AR2412 Monitor port → AHM16 with SLink card

#AllenHeath say in their forum that this is not guaranteed to work, since it never was intended to work this way – hooking up an #SLlink receiver talking #DSnake #meMonitor on that monitor port.

In particular, there must be one single #ClockMaster in this setup, which is the #AllenHeathSQ5. But whatever clock setting I use for the #ahm16, it works. It shouldn't work at least on its internal clock. But it does. No clicks, no pops – or do I just miss them?

DSnake seems to be a simple protocol, it's basically just inputs 21-40 on the AHM16 what the SQ-5 sends as monitor signal, while 1-20 is the regular outputs.

I have no idea, if this does works as a happy accident, or if it is somewhat unreliable on the long run.

Erinnerung an die netten Seiten meines Ex-Jobs: #GUI-Designer und so… da fällt es leicht, eine Benutzeroberfläche für das #AllenHeathAHM16 #Mischpult zu bauen im #CustomControlEditor.

Das System ist sehr flutschig umgesetzt – sobald ich die Oberfläche ins #AHM uploade, lädt sie sich auf den Endgeräten neu.

Damit ist das Prototyping für ein dringend abzulieferndes Angebot für die #Installation einer laienbedienbaren #Sprachbeschallung erstmal abgeschlossen.

Schön auch, dass die Tools von #AllenAndHeath in #Wine laufen, so muss ich mein geliebtes #Linux nicht verlassen.

Das #AHM16 soll in meinem Stall dann eher so als #PaController / #DSP dienen – deswegen lebt mein Exemplar in einer mobilen Kisten zusammen mit einem schicken XLR-/Ethercon-Anschlussfeld.

Aber zum schnellen Ausprobieren von Installations-Ideen taugt dieses Setup natürlich auch.

Ein #AHM32 habe ich vor etwa einem Jahr in einer Mehrzweckhalle installiert, Betrieb bisher wartungsfrei.

Mischt Euch doch einfach selber! 😛

Wir sind ja hier im Fedi, hier muss man keine Success Stories auskippen… Ohne die #sq4you App wäre ich gestern ins Straucheln gekommen.

Zeit war eher knapp bemessen, und anstatt 5 geplanten Funksstrecken auf einmal 10 im gleichen Band (nicht meine Planung)… der #InEar-Mix für die Kapelle (3x Funk, 1x Kabel) wäre hinten runter gefallen bei meiner Workload.

Zum Glück hat #AllenAndHeath diese App, mit der sich die Musiker den (#IEM-)Monitormix selber machen können. Die Profis auf der Bühne fanden das, Zitat: „Voll geil!”

… läuft sogar auffem Telefon.

Kundschaft bemängelte, der Headset-Business-Redner habe Feedback gehabt. Wenn der halt flugs in 1m Abstand vor Box vorbeirennt, weil er seine ganze Rede spontan entschlossen *vor* der Bühne hält… dann kann das passieren. Schade, dass bei Business-Events oft nur die Fehler zelebriert werden.

Die drölfzehn von mir möglich gemachten Unmöglichkeiten sieht ja keiner.

Bastelstunde! Freud und Leid mit dem eigenen #AllenHeathAHM16.

Geplanter eigener Einsatz: Als PA-Controller. Außerdem als Testsystem für Installationen aller Art, die dann bei anderen Leuten laufen sollen. (Ein AHM32 hab ich schonmal verbaut, läuft seit fast 1 Jahr wartungsfrei.)
