I revisited #everquest last night, for nostalgia's sake, which was one of the first 3d mmorpgs. I played it obsessively in high school. Revisiting it, it was interesting to see how things changed. And the memories of playing online with my best friends from childhood resurfaced, and it made me miss them very much. Though they walk this earth today, we've been out of touch for decades…

and in pondering the past I realized that interacting with my friends online was also something super fun they looked forward to, and that I was someone important in their lives.

I mentioned that I found some older PC games and one of those was a launch box copy of EverQuest 2. I didn't play the game at launch, but I did sink a LOT of time into it back around 2014. My brother found this box at a local shop and picked it up for me since he knew I would dig it.

THIS is how you do a good physical release. I miss when games included this much stuff by default!

What really blows my mind is that I can still by memory run to NWAF and recognize a lot of the spawns and areas on the original chernarus map. Or the snipe spots by stary. I have some really vivid memories of certain gun fights like a decade or however long it’s been later.

I mean I can still remember the run through east commons in #everQuest

To that end I can remember various builds in #wow for different xpacks and patches, but never played classic.

I haven't done a post about it (yet) but I DID end up getting Time flagged on The Heroes Journey EQ EMU I've been playing - we defeated Quarm, but on this EMU they have an added encounter of Zebuxoruk, and we could only get him to about 90% before wiping.

I'm playing a clr/ench/ranger - husband is playing a mnk/rog/zerker. Might have done better if one of us had been an actual tank class.

In the meantime, I started a bst/mag/necro who is TONS of fun, lol.
