Good morning Fedi friends. Another uncomfortable hot night, even with the aircon on you’re aware & after 5 days over 40c the heat seems to be sneaking in anyway. Our homes aren’t designed to deal with this. Two more days to go before it drops, including today. It was 25c overnight & today will be 42c. I am so over it & I have an aircon 🫤, it’s got to be appalling for those without. I definitely need to look at updating mine, it’s certainly not as efficient anymore, or maybe it’s just because it’s been just too hot for too long for it to cope.
I’m going to the pool this morning. I need the cool water & a swim for a couple of hours & then back home to close up for the day again!
A couple of things in the garden are starting to suffer, my lemon guava has a number of singed leaves & the crepe Myrtle has finally turned up its toes & is dead, not totally unexpected but disappointing. The Dogwood is going great guns though, so happy with it. Some of my tomatoes seem to ripen in 24hrs this week, so they like the heat.

Good morning Fedi friends. 24c when I got up for the day & a 42c forecast, it’s actually quite overcast outside, that will probably hold the heat in though. What a night as well. I went outside before bed last to get a sense of the night & ugh - like walking into a sauna. Turned around & went straight back inside. I slept most of the night on the couch & fairly well at that thanks to the aircon. Then around 1.30am I was woken to rain & it sounded quite heavy so I got up & thought maybe I could open up. No such luck, just as bad & around 34c. For some reason I then went to my bed rather than back to the couch, but managed to get back to sleep nevertheless. Awake again at 4.30am, still very warm outside. Finally got up at 6.30am to deal with the day feeling a little headachy due to the weather. You wouldn’t even have known it had rained so I watered again & topped up the birdbaths.
I do have the house open & the aircon has just finished its cleaning function after being on since yesterday lunchtime. I’m due to check its filters as well, & considering it’s getting such a workout atm I’ll do it this morning.
I’d thought I might go to the pool today as I’m missing it, unfortunately I trod in something outside yesterday & now have a split on my heel that is bleeding a little. Very difficult to keep a bandaid on a heel & not great when swimming - damnit. An at home yoga class will be me for the day, nice & relaxing.
