  1. Put a few layers of tape over both/all cameras (front/rear) before continuing to read this.
  2. Ideally print out and read on paper.
  3. If above not possible, read on a desktop or laptop, not on your phone/tablet...........@rainynight65 IMHO it's deliberate. #ExxonKnew why did they do a three-year study (1970-1973 ?) not merely proving (again), but detailing exactly what would happen? Effects of #climateEmergency : 1. Kills people directly &indirectly 2. Prompts #climateMigration , which 3. Move/crowds folks into smaller/denser areas, which makes us easier to 4. Control (in every respect including brainwashing) but also 5. Easier to kill large numbers, faster. ( See also #Gaza IsA #Prototype as are #Sudan & #Haiti & #Mexico & ...) 6. As we become #climateRefugees & move away -> Opens up more #land for #extraction (so-called ' #underExploited ') See also #silentWeaponsForQuietWars available in the public domain apparently. Also two #Boeing #safety #engineer #whistleblowers in the past year died shortly after going public w their news #leak #leaks . One apparent #suicideAllegedly the other in an #accident ... And prior to pandemic IDK which year there was a regional/national conference on the future of #selfDrivingCars #autonomousVehicles #roboTaxis held iirc in #PortlandOregon at #OMSI .. A whole panel of speakers, mostly industry, urban planning, policy wonks... But one woman who was widely regarded as a world-class expert on the risks / dangers of AV's ... She lived in Arizona. The week before she was scheduled to fly to Portland to give her talk at the convention/symposium, she was hit & killed... By a self-driving car. There is plenty more, but one gets the idea.

PS. #real_estate #affordable_housing is #gaslighting and a #Trojan_horse . As #private_equity and #public_housing_projects & #CDCs gobble up more land and homes to #demolish them and build brand new ones, the cost invariably skyrockets across the entire #market . Further, 1. They artificially limit the supply by delisting actually-vacant rentals (to drive up cost/demand), and 2. They constantly #lobby tooth & nail against any type of #environmental #regulations ... And #buildingCode #energy #efficiency standards. ... They refuse to even install simple overhangs above windows, to block out the sun during its summer zenith / hottest months while allowing it in the cooler months (#passiveSolarDesign 101 ).. Let alone thicker walls/insulation or triple-pane windows , all of which would only add 2% to the total cost of construction. (See " #passiveHaus explained in 90 seconds " on YouTube as well as #ecoJusticeRadio on passivehomes passivehouse #naturalbuilding
)
And building more even actually-affordable housing obscures the most obvious:
The cheapest home is an existing home.

Large parts of New England are facing #WaterRestrictions amid rare #drought conditions

Ayesha Rascoe, October 5, 2025

"RASCOE: When you think of droughts, the first place that comes to mind probably isn't New England, but a dry summer has led to low water levels in large parts of Massachusetts. Most of the state is under significant drought conditions, and that means water restrictions and an increased risk of brush fires. To talk about this and when it may end, we turn to Ken Mahan. He's the lead meteorologist at The Boston Globe. Welcome to the program.

KEN MAHAN: Thanks for having me, Ayesha.

RASCOE: How bad are these drought conditions throughout the state right now?

MAHAN: So the entire state as a whole is running what we call abnormally dry, which means that we've seen a prolonged period of precipitation reaching substantially below average. The Capes specifically are in a level of severe and moderate drought, and along Route 2 in northern Massachusetts is in a moderate drought as well, all stemming from the beginning of summer after a rather wet spring. But yes, this is becoming more common, and unfortunately, we've seen back to back and now back summers where we've seen less than average precipitation across the state.

RASCOE: Well, can I ask you - you said that it's becoming more common. We always have to ask, like, is this climate change?

MAHAN: Yeah, unfortunately, a big piece of it is climate change. When you do have a warming atmosphere and warming sea surface temperatures, then that is going to naturally change the way the atmosphere behaves. You think of the jet stream. The jet stream is the highway in which weather patterns traverse across the country. And over the last few summers, we've seen that jet stream become a little bit more to the north or diving down to the south of New England, which simply redirects storms away.

RASCOE: So what you're saying, just in layman's terms, is that the atmosphere conditions are changing, and so the jet streams are not bringing the storms and the water precipitation that they usually would to Massachusetts. They're sending them elsewhere.

MAHAN: That's absolutely correct. And also, with more heat in the atmosphere, it could hold more water vapor. And unfortunately, during the summer when we need precipitation the most, the storms that do come through are much weaker.

RASCOE: So can you give us a sense of how unusual it is for it to be this dry right now?

MAHAN: Well, you think of Massachusetts - I was looking at the data. This summer alone, Massachusetts saw anywhere between 2 to 7 inches of rain deficit from June 1. That has brought down 70% of stream flows and groundwater storages statewide, so that is a pretty significant drop. Northern New England as a whole - they saw the driest summer on record dating back nearly 130 years, with rainfall deficits over the summer reaching a foot, which is...

RASCOE: Oh.

MAHAN: ...Pretty astonishing."

Study Directly Links Emissions from #FossilFuel Producers to Devastating #Heatwaves

The findings could have legal implications for oil, gas, and cement producers, experts said.

By Ellyn Lapointe Published September 11, 2025

"A new study directly links hundreds of major heatwaves since 2000 to the emissions from fossil fuel and cement producers. Among its fundings, the researchers conclude that as many as a quarter of all heatwaves since the start of this century would have been 'virtually impossible' without emissions from any of the world’s 14 largest fossil fuel and #cement producers.

"The study, published Wednesday in the journal Nature, shows that greenhouse gas emissions from 180 of the world’s biggest cement, oil, and gas producers have significantly contributed to climate change over the last two decades.

"They linked the emissions to 213 heatwaves, finding the pollution made the #ExtremeHeat more likely and intense. Of those 213 events, 53 were made 10,000 times more likely as a result of the emissions, according to the researchers."

No Escape: #ClimateChange is a growing threat to people already fleeing war

12 November 2024

"People forced to flee war, violence and persecution are increasingly finding themselves on the front line of the global climate crisis, a new report warns, exposing them to a lethal combination of threats but without the funding and support to adapt.

"The report, released today by #UNHCR, the #UNRefugeeAgency, in collaboration with 13 expert organizations, research institutions and refugee-led groups, uses the latest data to show how climate shocks are interacting with conflict, pushing those who are already in danger into even more dire situations.

"Of the more than 120 million forcibly #displaced worldwide, three-quarters live in countries heavily impacted by climate change. Half are in places affected by both conflict and serious climate hazards, such as #Ethiopia, #Haiti, #Myanmar, #Somalia, #Sudan and #Syria.

"According to the report – No Escape: On the Frontlines of Climate Change, Conflict and #ForcedDisplacement – by 2040 the number of countries facing extreme climate-related hazards is expected to rise from 3 to 65, the vast majority of which host displaced people. Similarly, most refugee settlements and camps are projected to experience twice as many days of dangerous heat by 2050.

“ 'For the world’s most vulnerable people, climate change is a harsh reality that profoundly affects their lives,' said UN High Commissioner for Refugees, #FilippoGrandi. 'The climate crisis is driving displacement in regions already hosting large numbers of people uprooted by conflict and insecurity, compounding their plight and leaving them with nowhere safe to go.'

"For example, the devastating conflict in Sudan has forced millions of people to flee, including 700,000 who have crossed into #Chad, which has hosted refugees for decades and yet is one of the countries most exposed to climate change. At the same time, many who fled the fighting but remained in Sudan are at risk of further displacement because of #SevereFlooding that has blighted the country.

"Similarly, 72 per cent of #Myanmar’s refugees have sought safety in #Bangladesh, where natural hazards such as #cyclones and #flooding, are classified as extreme.

" 'In our region, where so many people have been displaced for so many years, we see the effects of climate change before our very eyes,' said #GraceDorong, a #ClimateActivist and former refugee living in #SouthSudan. 'I hope the voices of the people in this report help decision-makers to understand that if not addressed, forced displacement – and the multiplying effect of climate change – will get worse. But if they listen to us, we can be part of the solution, too.' "

Climate Refugees: The Human Face of #EnvironmentalDisplacement

By Marco Kopinke, M.Sc.
February 20, 2025

"In recent years, the world has witnessed a dramatic surge in the number of people #displaced due to climate-related #NaturalDisasters. In 2022 alone, approximately 36.2 million individuals were forced to leave their homes as a direct result of #environmental challenges linked to #ClimateChange. This marked a significant increase compared to previous years, highlighting an alarming trend that is reshaping lives and communities across the globe. The stark reality is that these numbers are not just statistics; they represent families torn apart, livelihoods disrupted, and futures uncertain. As we continue to see the effects of climate change intensify, the number of #ClimateRefugees is expected to rise, creating a #humanitarian challenge that requires immediate attention and action.

"Looking ahead, the projections paint an even grimmer picture. By the year 2050, it is estimated that up to 1.2 billion people could be displaced worldwide due to the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. This staggering figure underscores the urgency of addressing the root causes of climate-induced displacement. It is crucial to understand that these projections are not mere forecasts but a call to action for governments, organizations, and individuals to mitigate the factors contributing to such mass displacement. The potential scale of this crisis demands a coordinated global response to ensure that those affected are provided with the necessary support and resources to rebuild their lives."

Top UN court says countries can sue each other over climate change

by Esme Stallard and Georgina Rannard
BBC News Climate and Science
July 24, 2025

"A landmark decision by a top UN court has cleared the way for countries to sue each other over climate change, including over historic emissions of planet-warming gases.

"But the judge at the International Court of Justice in the Hague, Netherlands on Wednesday said that untangling who caused which part of climate change could be difficult.

"The ruling is non-binding but legal experts say it could have wide-ranging consequences.

"It will be seen as a victory for countries that are very vulnerable to climate change, who came to court after feeling frustrated about lack of global progress in tackling the problem.

"The unprecedented case at the International Court of Justice (#ICJ) was the brainchild of a group of young law students from low-lying #PacificIslands on the frontlines of climate change, who came up with the idea in 2019.

"One of those students, #SiosiuaVeikune from #Tonga, was in #TheHague to hear the decision.

" 'I'm lost for words. This is so exciting. There's a ton of emotions rushing through us. This is a win we take proudly back home to our communities,' he told BBC News.

" 'Tonight I'll sleep easier. The ICJ has recognised what we have lived through - our suffering, our resilience and our right to our future,' said Flora Vano, from the Pacific Island #Vanuatu, which is considered the country most vulnerable to #ExtremeWeather globally.

" 'This is a victory not just for us but for every frontline community fighting to be heard.'

"The ICJ is considered the world's highest court and it has global jurisdiction. Lawyers have told BBC News that the opinion could be used as early as next week, including in national courts outside of the ICJ.

"Campaigners and climate lawyers hope the landmark decision will now pave the way for compensation from countries that have historically burned the most fossil fuels and are therefore the most responsible for #GlobalWarming."

I saw a handfull of posts by US Americans, detecting backward-ness in Germany's and/or Europe's lack of air conditioning in homes.
They explained it with an alleged fear of technology.

Well, Germany's southernmost latitude in the Alpes(!), is about on the US border to Canada. Range from 47°N to 54°N.
Extreme warm temperatures simply weren't the rule here, before 2018, except for areas in the far South-West.
I grew up on 51°N = Calgary, Canada, in a 2-storey terrace house built 1961 with double glazing, outside blinds, and cellar. We never had hot summers but long, cold winters galore. A ski lift just up the hill.

The US are more like Southern Europe, L.A. or Texas are Northern Africa...

So why do Southern European homes not have AC (yet)?
People in these old-world latitudes had thousands of years of experience with high temperatures and built their houses, villages, cities accordingly.
Thick walls for proper insulation, outside blinds, narrow alleys and backyards keep out the midday sun, awnings across streets or alleys, arch ways along city blocks for shopping streets and the like.

The comparison to US suburbia with thin-walled, low-quality houses makes it clear why some sort of cooling seemed "necessary" already in the cooler past.
And living "in Northern Africa" – without heat-adapted building codes? 🤷🏽‍♀️

'Planet Wreckers': 4 Rich Nations Plotting Nearly 70% of New Oil and Gas Over Next Decade | Common Dreams

This is not just hypocrisy," said one climate campaigner. "It is a death sentence for communities on the frontlines of the #ClimateCrisis."

Brett Wilkins
Jun 16, 2025

"Four wealthy nations—the #UnitedStates, #Canada, #Norway, and #Australia—account for the majority of planned oil and gas expansion over the next decade, according to new data published by #OilChangeInternational on Monday, the first day of the #BonnClimateChangeConference in Germany.

"Oil Change's analysis, titled #PlanetWreckers, notes that if those four #GlobalNorth nations stopped their planned new oil and gas extraction, 32 billion tons of carbon pollution would stay in the ground instead of being burned and released into the atmosphere, where they fuel planetary heating. That's the equivalent of three times the annual global emissions created by burning coal.

" 'A handful of the world's richest nations remain intent on leading us into disaster. This is not just hypocrisy. It is a death sentence for communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis,' Oil Change International global policy lead Romain Ioualalen said in a statement Monday.

"It is sickening that countries with the highest incomes and outsized historical responsibility for causing the climate crisis are planning massive oil and gas expansion with no regard for the lives and livelihoods at stake," Ioualalen added."
