Hey @darrenmorin !

Found it!!!
Alright, go easy on me because I'm not a bassist, a drummer, solo guitar player, not really a singer and I'm definitely not a sound engineer. Plus... this was written in three days?... maybe a week, from blank page to this. I can't remember. But it was part of the annual songwriting challenge called February Album Writing Month so it was did it kinda quick.

Anyway, hope you like it. πŸ™‚

In case you missed it yesterday: my game design group released the collab album we did for #FAWM back in February: PARANORMALL! It's a soundtrack for an imaginary horror game set in an abandoned shopping mall.

I worked on 9 of the 16 tracks. For several, my friend Johanna came up with basslines & I added drums & keys & things. & our friend Barbara recorded a bunch of voice acting clips as the Mall's haunted P.A. system, which we used in many of our tracks as well!

Managed to put out another complete album for February Album Writing Month, with the help of Aubrey Van Gelded. Also recorded in a Mexican hotel room on an iPad Pro, but this time I had a real guitar and a handheld condenser mic. I think it sounds a bit better.

Today I attempted the Immersion Composition Society's challenge of writing 20 songs in 12 solid hours of work. (See Karl Coryat's excellent "The Frustrated Songwriter's Handbook" for all the details).

It was way more challenging than I expected. I didn't make twenty songs.

But I *did* get fourteen songs out of the day that I wouldn't have written otherwise. That's a major win for me - and the equivalent of doing in a single day.

First proper session in my home studio since today. I'm looking forward to getting back to making music.

#TunesOnTuesday shares another new song that I started in February as part of the #FAWM Challenge. "Easy" is a reflection on AI and other labor-saving tools. #songwriter #songwriting #jazzpiano #jazz #jazztodon #jazzsong ohljazz.com/2025/03/25/tunes-o

FAWM has closed down till next year. There are no plans for a 50/90 this summer.

#TunesOnTuesday shares another song from the end of this year's FAWM.org challenge, a sad story about a breakup in a grocery store parking lot called "Void and Return." I find in FAWM the freedom to explore styles and topics that I wouldn't generally work in the rest of the year. #songwriter #songwriting #fawm ohljazz.com/2025/03/11/tunes-o

If you like the song I posted above, you can download it with the little down arrow button to the right of the play button.

But do it soon because the #FAWM site will be taken offline and go dormant in a couple of weeks until it opens up again next year with a clean slate.

During the February Album Writing Month there are a lot of challenges, prompts, collaboration opportunities and games to help fuel creativity to get some songwriting done.

I did one that I knew was going to push me WAY out of my comfort zone. I signed up for a four person, a cappella challenge where I was randomly placed with a lyricist and three other vocalists.

It turned out way better than i possibly could have imagined. While it is a little pitchy in places, it's still quite beautiful. It sounds like a church hymn. Well, that is if your sacred space... if your church is out in nature. It's a song about birdies!!!

Hope you like it and it brings a little joy to your Sunday.

So the February Album Writing Month ended this morning at 0600 because that's when Feb ended for GMT time.

So I made one final push to get one more song. Can't believe i did it. I think I started at midnight and finished about 1:30am. It ain't pretty, it's a simple I-IV-V song, it's one take into a couple of mics and rather unpolished BUT!... it made for a respectable #FAWM this year.

Tah dahhhh.

re: last boost from @FlyoverIndies

Last night I got us caught up uploading our paranormal mall tracks to the #FAWM page -- and we (collectively) made it! I added two WIP's of mine at the end so we'd get all 14 songs in by the deadline.

That boost is a big ol' thread of everything we added last night--long, but worth perusing imo!

You can also just go to our FAWM page ans listen to all 14!

Tonight marks the end of #FAWM and we're catching up on uploading some of the tracks we've been working on for our Paranormal Mall imaginary horror game.

We'll post the latest updates in a thread here!

ok, I guess it's time to wrap #FAWM for this year. It was a hard, but very satisfying month of songwriting and musicking. Time for me to go to sleep, and tomorrow I will do some regular singing practice again; I've been neglecting that. There are some songs that I still want to record, but apart from that, I think I might need a few days of rest from composing.
