I'm assuming that this new adaptation of #AdrianMole will be aimed at adults who remember the #Falklands War, #Thatcher, #Diana, etc.

No, I won't be giving it a spin.

Photo theme: postboxes

This is the classic British design of pillar box, or free-standing postbox. Iron, cylindrical, bright red, and this one was in Stanley on the Falkland Islands.

The Royal Cypher indicates it's from the reign of George VI and therefore fairly rare as iron priority was given to World War II for a fair chunk of his reign.

It's a very bright, sunny day, with warm tones lighting the scene. We're looking at the wall of a building that fills the view close to us. The building has narrow, overlapping, horizontal wooden boards painted white white a small shadow under each one due to the the sun's high position overhead. The edge of a simple, white wooden-framed window can just be see in the top left and the ground is a textured concrete in beige. Framed within the shot, standing just in front of the building and close enough to take up three quarters of the height of the shot is a classic, red, British postbox. It's an iron cylinder about chest-high on an adult with a thick black base before the bold red takes over up to the top which has a flared cap. The large slot for this postbox is directly at us and there's a rectangular frame below where pickup times could be displayed although it's empty. A Royal Cypher displaying fancy lettering of GR with Roman numerals VI inside it indicates this was from during the reign of George VI. Black lettering "Post Office" is beneath the cypher.
