Autumn

A forgotten photo from last year's autumn season. This shot was gathering dust in my library. I have a lot of such shots. A severe lack of time prevents me from getting around to processing them. Maybe one day I won't be so far behind anymore, in that regard. But who am I kidding?

Standing before this aged urn, surrounded by rustling autumn leaves. The rusted gate, the inscription about "peace for your ashes" - they touch something deep within me. Transience embraces me. How many have stood here, saying goodbye? Time slips away as I feel the cool wind. In this place's silence, I find strange comfort, connected to the eternal cycle that encompasses us all.

That late October afternoon, I was walking along one small lake that was surrounded on all sides by woods and trees. I came to the very end of the lake where a small river flows into it. It was a wonderful day, but it was almost ending. Autumn has already greatly spread its beautiful colors all around. The leaves on the branches were in beautiful warm yellow, red and copper colors. I was standing on one large fallen trunk and in front of me there were more trunks that had fallen over the water. Leaves that had fallen from branches were scattered on the surface of the water. The last rays of the sun made their way through the branches, adding a little more warmth to everything. I was looking into the distance along the river flow and enjoyed this truly beautiful sight. I would have stayed a little longer but I had to go so I took a shot and continued on my way.

The #withered #fallenleaves serve as a #microhabitat for specialized #decomposing #soilorganisms. If old leaves remain on the tree, the organisms there will begin #decomposition processes.
