I made a decision about Far Cry 4: That game isn’t for me, it’s an overstimulating experience that commits to many bad decisions which detract from a player’s enjoyment. The constant unprovoked eagle and other wildlife attacks are truly maddening. 7 random encounters spawning directly on the player’s location; it’s a manic episode style game!
During the final game session, I almost screamed, “I’m going to become The Joker if this bullshit keeps going!”.
I played hours of Far Cry 4; Sometimes the game is a total bastard! Other times, really compelling and keeps me amused with a natural curve of challenge (despite being on easy mode). FPS aren't a genre that I'm particularly skilled in, but it's still fun as a casual player of shooters.
Far Cry 4 had the audacity to spawn 7 random events right on top of me within just a few seconds of one another. It was beyond annoying because as I had a plan that got scuttled so many times.
Constantly having to refill my ammo and armor before going back out into the wild. Earned a lot of money to upgrade the Ghale Homestead, at the very least. I might be able to fully upgrade that home within another session!
Far Cry 5 seemed tamer by comparison.
I bought Far Cry 4 on deep sale because that's the only time an Ubisoft game is worth it. It's a game that really loves springing 5 random encounters on you at once. Wild shit that is absolutely annoying, but typical Ubisoft design. I'm the silly one for buying this game to begin with, honestly, truly! 🤪
So I never did play #FarCry4 I got into the series with 5 and everything since then, but 4 is currently on sale on the #Epic #game #store for like 700yen so I grabbed it and installed. Giving it a go now. I generally like the Far Cry style gameplay loop, so hopefully this earlier one does not disappoint.
More games are coming to the #Ubisoft+ Classic tier for #PC, including #WatchDogs and #FarCry4

Oh also: (not including Far Cry 1 and 2, which I'm not familiar with), Dani Rojas is kind of the first character that makes full sense to be mopping the floor with the big bads.
FC 3: Jason Brody. Athletic and knows how to use a parachute, otherwise has no combat training.
FC 4: Ajay Ghale. Was in a bad crowd as a teen, but that's about it.
FC 5: [literally doesn't have a name]. Junior Deputy. Is called Rookie by their peers. Is simultaneously the most and least competent character, as they do almost all the work in FC 5 but are also constantly captured because of Bad Writing.
FC 6: Dani Rojas. Different military jobs and a life of hardship. Constantly referred to in-universe, by peers, as a badass. I'm about halfway through the game and Dani never loses an actual fight with anyone—instead of being clowned on like FC 5, Dani is more of a Superman or Ip Man figure—only huge firepower (attack helis, tanks, airstrikes) or underhanded tactics (attacking or capturing allies, poisoning or blowing up an entire building) actually slow them down. The only thing preventing them from becoming some sort of Baba Yaga is that the FND doesn't really know who they are. Neat stuff.
