What you want is a #federalEurope. That's the only thing that will ensure efficient and democratic decision-making, and combine a European common interest with states' diversity.

That's why a multi-tier membership makes sense. Some countries only a want economic cooperation (les than today's 🇪🇺), others want to move towards a #federalEurope (more than today's 🇪🇺). Today both are stuck.
There we go: the coal & steel community and common economic development are *the first step* for the development of a #FederalEurope. Only a first step.
💡Quick idea on #EuropeDay 🇪🇺: how about, instead of celebrating #Schuman & #Monnet's great work with fanfare, we continuously and concretely built on their legacy to achieve their vision of a #FederalEurope?
If alive today, they would probably regret that, 70 years later, we still have not built a #FederalEurope, or even a true political community.
While the experience of democracy has evolved, their vision was a true federal system, & not national governments with veto power for all.
