The finished stocking! Son loved it.
Only my second attempt at stranded colorwork and I can see a lot of flaws. But I'm still mostly happy with how it turned out.
(sorry forgot alt-text earlier, added a brief one, spoons are low today)

Finished! Just as well as my partner forgot to bring any other hats with him - this has already been broken in on a wander this morning.
Been working on this hat the past couple of days - it's not a Christmas present, but I'm hoping to give it to my partner before we go away for Christmas... tomorrow π
White chocolate and cranberry bundt cake.
Used a Nordic Ware bundt tin for the first time this evening and happy with how it turned out - so simple but so pretty!

It's the most tartiflette time of the year π
December's cocktail pie - Parsnip Flip Galette
Ango shortcrust, sherry and dried fruit chutney, maple-bourbon parsnips, toasted almonds
Something about The Aviary's Parsnip Flip stood out to me this month - festive, unexpected, and it already sorta sounds like a pie.
It's gonna make some good Christmassy lunches as we get towards the holidays!

Still have 4 rows to go today but I'm calling it here.
Love how this is working up, although spots here and there you can definitely tell I'm new at colorwork.
Trying out a Parsnip Flip from the Aviary's Holiday Cocktails book - parsnip syrup, bourbon and sherry.
It's pretty good and very festive. Every sip you remember there's parsnip, and then remember that's a good thing π
Day 5 of the Arne and Carlos knitted holiday stocking.
@knitting @fiberarts (pls leave off groups if you reply)
FINALLY got into town today to pick up my yarn for the Arne and Carlos Advent Stocking!
Super excited, can't wait to cast on the toe tonight.
Was also surprised to find that I don't actually own DPNs in 3.5mm, so two IC method it is (I prefer that anyways, so that works).

@RuthSalter @consumablejoy Ok I think Iβm going to try the stocking for the advent project. I ordered some cotton yarn (best I could find in holiday colors) and did a practice cast-on!
I got some thin yarn for the tiny ornaments and bought the patterns, but I donβt have small needles and Iβm not very experienced at knitting on dpn, kinda worried if it will be too small and fiddly for me! They are so cute tho. I may get small needles and give it a try. #knitting #FeelingFestiveMAL
November's cocktail pie - Sazerac Sweet Potato Pie
Sweet Peychaud's pastry, sweet potato and rye filling, absinthe rinse
I've loved seeing everyone's Thanksgiving pies, so for November I decided to go down the classic American pie and cocktail route.
Sazerac flavours worked so well here to complement the pie's regular spices.

On the subject of Arne and Carlos, I just saw they're doing a Mystery Christmas Stocking advent knit-a-long this year, for free, with 6 rows announced every day.
Also sharing with #FeelingFestiveMAL in case anybody's interested!
Starting to plan some seasonal baking while testing out a modified Rumplesnuggler cocktail this afternoon (chosen entirely for the name). Hot chocolate, Amarula (instead of Bailey's), mint liqueur - went too heavy on the mint so looks like I'll have to try this one out again π

Kicked off this π season's #baking with "experimental" #Vanillekipferl (vanilla crescents): Substituted wheat flour with a mix of mostly ground almonds and a bit of chickpea flour.
Can highly recommend the higher almond ratio but not at all chickpea flour. π
The kipferl bake just fine but there's an aftertaste of chickpea clashing with the vanilla. I'll try buckwheat flour next.
Anyone else baking or making anything festive? π
Looks like folk are keen for a #FeelingFestiveMAL!
