The new technofeudal lords produce a new social order. They have replaced the invisible hand of the market with the visible, algorithmic fist of the cloudalist.

Free-market enthusiasts have nothing to celebrate and much to regret. But it will take a brave soul amongst them to stare reality in the face. Just like pro-Soviet Marxists remained in denial that the Soviet experiment had failed for many years after 1991, so free-market ideologues refuse to see that capitalism begat a form of capital — cloud capital — that replaced markets with something out of the Soviet past. I don't think that the Republican Party is so much the problem any more than the non-oppositional Democratic Party that's at least as beholden to Private Equity and the rest of the institutional-class parasites. A YEAR FROM NOW, conveniently just after the midterm elections, the main fund of PUBLIC MONEY that provides virtually all of Medicaid's operating costs nationwide will ALSO be defunded by BigBeautiful MAGA Mike Johnson and every legislator who voted for the reconciliation redistribution/plunder. #Hospitals are going to close. Some have done so and many are "consolidating" vital services. (Here, a hospital closed its Birthing Center; another is rolling back emergency hours and likely terminating dialysis care; the next nearest is about 100 miles.) Eligibility for the sick & injured to access any medical services even out-of-pocket will be drying up, and only a privileged few will be able to get regular preventive care. Today in Labor History November 6, 1217: The Charter of the Forest was sealed by King Henry III, re-establishing rights to the “forests” for “free men” that had been eroded by William the Conqueror and his heirs. “Forest” included large areas of commons such as heathland, grassland and wetlands, productive of food, grazing and other resources. At that time, royal forests were among the most important sources of food, as well as fuel for cooking, heating and charcoal production. “Free men” were a subset of peasants who paid lower rents and who were subjected to fewer restrictions than other peasants. The document was complementary to the Magna Carta and was considered radical for its time and place.
