I've created ebook versions of my hopeful climate fiction "Standing Wave" and "Running AMOC", both EPUB and PDF. You can also read them on line at selfedge.org.uk/fiction/

"Standing Wave" is about a team of fedizens searching for a long-lost climate model. The main actors are a Mongolian Soviet researcher and his US counterpart, some time in the 1970s.

EPUB: selfedge.org.uk/ebooks/Standin
PDF: selfedge.org.uk/ebooks/Standin

"Runnning AMOC" is about the impending collapse of the Gulf stream. The protagonist is an Indonesian-Dutch woman of around fifty.

EPUB: selfedge.org.uk/ebooks/Running
PDF: selfedge.org.uk/ebooks/Running

Do I use AI in my writing process? Yes.

Does AI write for me? No.

Here's a little longer insight on how I applied it in my writing endeavor and how it helped.

AI is a tool and can and should be used to boost creativity and craftsmanship. It just should not be used to replace these...

I have a friend who has a YA manuscript ready to go on sub to agents. Most agents don’t ask for a synopsis but a few do, but they don’t define what length or scope for that synopsis. Agents, what say you? Are we talking 3-5 paragraphs or 3-5 pages, here? #literaryagents #askanagent #fictionwriting

I'm working on a new short story. (It's 10,000 words already so not really all that short.)
As my previous stories, it's about climate change but with a positive spin.

It's be called "The Dunes of Ard Dìthreabh".

(You can actually read the drafts on my codeberg repo, but I don't think you want to do that. The finished story will be much better.)

(My previous stories are here: selfedge.org.uk/fiction/)

Characters are the people or animals that the story revolves around, and they can be fictional, based on real people, or even non-human (Prodigy Game).

I really hope this isn't the picture that ends up characterizing 2025.

It's very hard to write near future fiction when this is reality. Anything you write will seem ridiculously unreal if it is to come anywhere close to the craziness that reality will bring. Just look at this photo! Wow, I can't believe this is real life. Just wow.

How do you create a mystery that defies mystery conventions? Join me for a deep dive into Susan Glaspell's brilliant 1917 short story, "A Jury of Her Peers." I've broken the story down scene by scene, so we can see how she's constructed this clever, unconventional mystery story: open.substack.com/pub/classics

The title says, "A Jury of Her Peers" by Susan Glaspell: a mystery story that plays with mystery conventions. At the bottom, it says, "classicstoryteller.substack.com" - the name of the newsletter being promoted. The image shows a desolate barn in a farm landscape with surrounding trees, all in black and white, but the sky is colored a deep, dark red.
