Multiple white fleabane wildflowers appearing like dandelions that have gone to seed, displaying characteristic spherical, fluffy seed heads with light centers. C. Wang et al. (2020) studied it in China finding one #alienspecies be able to "generate a #favorable" #speciescommunity #habitat that is beneficial for following ones, using #Solidago #canadensis as 2nd alien.

Eastern #Daisy Fleabane, a common #wildflower native to North #America.

A delicate wildflower called Eastern Daisy Fleabane. Each flower is about the size of a small button—roughly the width of a fingertip.

The flower head feels like a tiny puff, with dozens of fine, thread-like petals radiating outward in a perfect circle. These petals are soft and feathery, like the bristles of a very gentle brush, and they surround a firm, raised center disk.

That center is slightly bumpy to the touch and has the texture of a tiny cushion. It feels a bit like the tip of a pencil eraser and is typically round and slightly domed. If you could see it, it would be a bright golden yellow, warm and cheerful.

The flowers grow in clusters on slender green stems, so you might feel several flower heads branching from a single stalk. The stems are thin, upright, and slightly hairy, giving a faint ticklish sensation if brushed against the skin. Around the base, you'll find narrow leaves that feel like small, flat ribbons with a slight edge.

This flower has a very light scent—barely noticeable—some describe it as faintly sweet or grassy. It’s a humble, gentle presence in a summer field, often visited by bees and tiny butterflies.

I forgot to post a wide shot of the Daisy #Fleabane, and I would not want the HOA to miss out, so here it is.
