The time has come for a new version of the set. This means a certain number of games have accumulated, and it's time to release them in a new version. There are four new games here. Three are written in Free Pascal.

Check out this excellent and *stylish* little fly seen today by Irene Apo near Cambridge in NZ.

Steve Kerr from Otago Museum has identified it as the NZ endemic species *Poecilohetaerella antennata*. Not a lot is known about the biology of these.

Frog – jump on the water lily! frog is calling you for a swim!

The frog is green and cheerful. A big fan of swimming. He can swim anywhere. In a river, in a lake. Anywhere with a lot of water. The frog is green. With big feet. Eyes on top. It's comfortable to swim. I want to swim.

In my new YouTube #video, I tell the #hypothetical story of a #Histiostomatidae #mite that lived its #lifehistory in the #dung heap of the #dinosaur #Edmontosaurus #annectens during the Late #Cretaceous. It developed #fungivorously within the dung and, when conditions deteriorated, was #transported by #flies to a new habitat (phoresis). All images and footage created with #AI assistance, except photos of free-living mites.

Life in the countryside.

Just got back to Shropshire after being away for several months. As the house heated up the cluster flies started to wake up.

I gave the room and vents a quick spray with Raid. Now I'm being bombarded by hundreds of dying flies. I have already swept up the first batch!

You know you've got a fly problem when...

... as you enter your apartment, the flies trip over themselves to greet you, screaming "Daddy!" and asking you if you brought them food.

Nobody wants to mess with the Bald-faced Hornet, so much so that other insects will mimic it. The Bald-faced Hornet Fly (Spilomyia fusca) is a pollinator native to the Northeastern United States and adjacent parts of Canada. Forest County, WI. Nikon z50, 50-250mm

Lagushka – already in a water!

Lagushka (frog) – this is funny green creature. It can jump. And do quack! And do croak! And, also, it can swim very good! This summer was cold. And, even more - full of rains. It is best thing for the frogs, they have fun now.

Macro photograph of two mating flies in side view, the smaller one underneath and perched on a brown twig, against a smooth dark green background. The flys' heads are large, rounded, and made almost entirely out of giant, encompassing rusty red compound eyes.

The fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) is a beautiful and striking presence in nature. In earlier times, the mushroom was sometimes dipped in milk or water to repel flies. The flies eagerly came to nibble on it and then became intoxicated or died. Hence the name: fly agaric.

Today’s waddle in local patch was quiet. Birds were hiding in the bushes and flying away as soon As they spotted me. Luckily there were plenty of mushroom and insects. Here are some photos of the latter.

Humberto (edit: Amy) visited local patch. Wind gusts and rain showers. In between I sat down next to my favourite tree log to watch insects (because birds were hiding in the bushes)

eine Dungwaffenfliege Sargus bipunctatus ♀️

#insekten #insects #krabbeltierchen #AuwaldRunde #flies #nature #biodiversity
