In our quest to have a more diverse grass landscape and to get rid of crab grass (ha!) we rented a walk behind flail mower (wow, this machine is powerful) to cut everything short and remove the cuttings. We'll be sowing in flower seeds later.

@mighty_orbot In June I found a tree in a friend’s neighborhood. I must admit I did taste just to be sure they were fit for human consumption. They were delicious and I am going to plant a couple this year in my growing #foodforest.

Planning a lot of work in the garden. I kicked it off today by dividing a dwarf Cavendish banana. Garden planning for next year. Ordered some seeds today. Will research and select some more fruit trees for the #foodforest

I will also mark some rotten invasive honeysuckle for chopping when it’s colder.

Sewing and knitting. I have projects going in both areas.

The usual bread making, cooking etc.

Flowers from the Finca

At Finca Del Soul, we're tearing up the tools of tyranny and turning inhospitable invasives into beautiful blooming #biodiversity one plant at a time.

These flowers not only provide for the animals who are displaced by the expansion of grassland and monoculture plantations; their vibrant colours brighten our days and remind us that what we do here is making a difference, however small it may seem at times.

In an age when nature is increasingly under siege, protecting wild and free places is the ultimate form of disobedience. Cultivating beauty has become an act of protest. For us, flowers are just the beginning, a sign of what is to come: a thriving #FoodForest and a radical abundance of fruit.

Ze piepen nog steeds, maar er is ook wat geknor (woerd?) en heel soms zelfs een kwaak (eend). Van die kwaak schrikken ze dan heel erg en dan zetten ze t op een lopen.
Hier niet. Hier staan ze gewoon heel relaxt een beetje te wroeten.
Nog wel steeds samen, maar af en toe durft er eentje wel alleen naar de zwemschelp 3m verderop.
Ze zijn in de rui en er wordt druk gepoetst. Kleine veertjes overal. Ze zijn zo schattig!

I finally found (accidentally ran into) a grocery shelf item I kept seeing in recipes, that I never heard of bc I'm surrounded by the living, growing version of it. (Dried taro leaf ) 😅 I'm definitely gonna use the fresh version forever and always. That shelf stable version has a similar story to fry bread, in that it's what was used bc the real foods of the people were taken, destroyed, forbidden, no land, no farmers, etc.
